Hello and welcome to what will become a regular feature of this blog! As many of you know, I love Doctor Who. Lots. The 7th series is starting soon and every Sunday I’m going to look back at the previous episode. I’m starting tonight though with a look at the new trailer which was released earlier this week!
Wow! I am so excited now and really can’t wait for the new trailer. The series will start airing on either the 25th August or the 1st September! Let me go through the trailer by episode:
Episode 1: Asylum of the Daleks: Everything to do with daleks in the trailer is from this episode. And wow, there’s a lot of them. Interestingly they are mostly pre-Matt Smith era daleks, perhaps because the new daleks aren’t exactly popular. You might notice that the new daleks have been given a new paint job where the primary colours have been toned down a little. It’s the end of the trailer that’s most exciting/confusing. “Who killed all the daleks?” “Who do you think?”. I’m not sure! It makes you think it’s the Doctor but it could be Amy as she’s unconscious or maybe it was Rory and he’s forgotten cos of a timey-wimey thing. Or maybe someone else!
Episode 2: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship: Wowie, what a concept and it looks like it uses some great CGI with the dinosaurs. It’s going to feature a team of people including Amy and Rory, Rory’s Dad (played by Mark Williams a.k.a Arthur Weasley) and a Victorian explorer (played by Rupert Graves, a.k.a Sherlock’s Lestrade). David Bradley (a.k.a Filch) plays the baddie.
Episode 3: A Town Called Mercy: The western episode! Not much here but the clip where the Doctor mentions daleks and the Master is a great speech and maybe a hint that the Master will appear later in the series.
Episode 4: “Cubed” (TBC): I don’t think there’s anything in the trailer, though the robots who say “We’re very cross with you” might be from that episode but I reckon it’s from episode 2 as you can spot Mark Williams in the background.
Episode 5: “The Angels Wept” (TBC): The return of the weeping angels, in New York and the last episode to feature Amy and Rory. Is that a new type of weeping angel blowing out a match, some kind of cherub? Looks like there is some great shots of New York too!
That’s all this trailer shows as only five episodes will air before Christmas when we’ll get a Christmas special and at some point later the rest of series 7. It looks awesome though!
The rumour mill is on overdrive but the best rumour I’ve heard is that Neil Gaiman, legendary author and writer of series 6 episode The Doctor’s Wife, will be writing another episode which will see the cybermen re-invented. I sincerely hope this is true.
At Midnight tonight the BBC are unveiling “an iconic star” who will be appearing in the show, probably in the Christmas special. I’ll put that below once the announcement’s been made!
UPDATE: Richard E. Grant is the “iconic star”. He’ll be great in Doctor Who but I’m not sure I would call him iconic. He had a Doctor Who connection having played the Doctor in a Comic Relief spoof and an animated story called “Scream of Shalka”.
This is so exciting and I hope you’ll join me in a few weeks time for the start of the series. I can’t wait for more travels across time and space!

I knew it was Filch! I just knew and my mum was like oh I'm not sure!
