Chart Chasers #27

Hello lovely people! It’s Monday and that means it’s time for some new music. This week there are seven new entries into the UK chart so let’s check them out!

Chart Chasers

The first track is one of several that has charted because of the Olympic Opening Ceremony, though this song was actually performed just before the ceremony started. It’s Frank Turner with I Still Believe.

I know that several of my friends are Frank Turner fans but I’ve not really listened to him before. I’m now wondering why on Earth not! This is a great song which I love. 5/5.

That was a great start but it looks like things are about to go downhill from here. Oure next track is by Drake and is called Crew Love. It also features someone called Weeknd. And no that’s not a typo, that’s how you spell the name. Getting a decent stage name is never worth bad spelling.

Oh dear. What was that noise? It certainly wasn’t music. I have heard some seriously bad stuff doing this feature and this is right there with the worst of it. Painful to listen to. 0/5.

Expect something very bass-y now. It’s Through the Night by Drumsound & Bassline Smith. Judging by those artist names, it must be a drum and bass tune!

I’m not really a fan of drum and bass but I will listen to it occasionally. On first listen I rather like this track, it has some great synths and though it’s drum and bass it's not exactly heavy. Light drum and bass if you like. Great track, 4/5.

It’s another Olympics track now and this ones a fantastic one. It’s one of my fave bands, The Arctic Monkeys doing a cover of the classic Beatles track Come Together. And it is wonderful.

Wow. It’s a fantastic song and I really think The Arctic Monkeys did a fantastic job. In fact I reckon this is one of the best covers I have ever heard and the fact it’s live in stadium with 80,000 and on TV to billions is even more impressive. So good. 5/5.

And now for our final Olympics track of the day! This track is called Caliban’s Dream and is by Underworld. It was the part of the Opening Ceremony where Sir Steve Redgrave and co passed on the Olympic torch to young hopefuls who then proceeded to light the fantastic Olympic cauldron.

This reminds me what a great moment that was in the Opening Ceremony. And what a beautiful track it is, perhaps not something I would normally listen to but it’s wonderful. 5/5.

A fantastic track next which I first heard live. It’s called We’ll Be Coming Back and is by Calvin Harris, with vocals by Example. And it’s amazing.

It’s a fantastic track which is a great Example song with a bit of Calvin Harris jiggery thrown in to make it even better. Although I did feel at point it was going to turn into Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing”. Great track and a great summer tune. 4/5.

Our final track of the day, currently number one in the UK, is Heatwave by Wiley and also features Ms D. I’ve not heard it yet but judging by the title it’s another summer tune!

For some reason I really like Wiley’s stuff. I don’t know why he has to tell us who he is in all of his hit singles though. Ms D also has a great voice and together the pair of them produce a decent, if unoriginal, track. I’m surprised this reached number one but it’s a nice little summer tune. 3/5.

And that’s all for this week, as usual let me know your thoughts on any of these songs! And don’t forget you can see the full chart and links to my thoughts on every song in it on the Chart page!
