I am very excited by the prospect of today’s Chart Chasers. A massive NINE songs and amongst them are some songs I love already. It’s time to play the music!
Up first today is a track that I first heard live. Yeah, how trendy am I? This is a song called Daydreamer and is by Flux Pavillion featuring Example. Example is the wonderful artist I saw perform and he does the vocals for this track.
I properly love this track and it has been constantly played on my iPod over the last week or so. I think this is technically “dubstep” and so I feel even cooler than I like a dubstep song. To be honest it’s not really dubstep, it doesn’t sound completely shit. In fact it sounds amazing. 5/5.
Next up are our new friends Train. For some reason their songs keep charting. I’ve not really liked any of the tracks of I’ve heard so far but I’d happily reverse my opinion if Hey Soul Sister turns out to be any good…
Well this is my fave Train track so far. I don’t love it but its certainly a feel good, feet-tapping song. Train fans are completely wrong then. 3/5.
I have no idea what to expect from the next song. It’s called Higher Love and is by someone called James Vincent McMorrow. It’s hardly an easy to remember pop-star name is it? I think I ought to investigate.
Ah, it makes sense now. This track is used on a Love Film advert at the moment. The power of advertising. It’s a great track too! This is music being an art. It is full of emotion and awesomeness. 4/5.
The next track is Blue Jeans by Lana Del Ray. I suspect this hasn’t charted too highly mainly because Lana’s album sold really well. Everyone that wants this song probably already has it. And what a song it is too.
This is the other song that’s been on my iPod a lot lately. I love Lana’s voice a lot and once again there’s lots of emotion in this song. A song that is genuinely filled with emotion is probably going to be awesome. I have a lot of love for Miss Del Rey. 5/5.
Hurrah, Avicii are back! Their last track, Levels, was awesome so I am hoping this one is at least as good. It’s called Silhouettes.
I’m finding it hard to like this. It’s another one of those tracks that pretty much produces no reaction from me. It’s a fairly generic summer dance tune. 2/5.
To continue you might need to press the “read more” button…
Another mystery track now as it’s Sub Focus featuring Alice Gold with a track called Out The Blue. I’ve no idea what will happen when I press play.
Once again I’m sat here pretty much reaction-less. The song certainly wasn’t captivating, I started wondering what movie I will watch tonight. Boring. 2/5.
Rihanna is back in the charts next with her new song Where Have You Been? Well I went to the supermarket this morning Rihanna but apart from that I’ve been in all day. Here’s the song.
You’ve been everywhere Rihanna? I bet you’ve not been to my local supermarket! Anyway, the song is not bad for someone whose songs I usually despise. Some of it is pretty annoying, especially the way she “sings” the word ‘life’ during most of it. OK but nothing special. 3/5.
Another artist with a new song are Cover Drive, makers of a decent song called Twilight which had nothing to with vampires. This one is called Sparks. I wonder if it has anything to do with Spyro…
The female singer has such an incredible voice. The fact that the male singer is auto-tuned within an inch of his life suggests he is not so good. It’s a decent pop song which is spoiled a little by auto-tune. 4/5.
Our last song for today is by one of the stars of N-Dubz, Tulisa. She wrote this song as a sort of apology for an explicit video of her doing something unspeakable to a man appeared online. She wasn’t even very good at it. Apparently.
Interestingly Tulisa was recently voted sexiest woman in the world by lad’s mag FHM. I think her “campaign” video might have had something to do with that. I wouldn’t even put Tulisa in the top 100 to be honest. The song itself is a decent enough pop song I guess. I’m sure I will end up liking it after a few more listens, however much I don’t want that to happen. 4/5.
I hope you enjoyed that lot. I think the standard of songs was unusually high this week. If you visit my Chart page you can see what the chart looks like and find links to the relevant Chart Chasers for each song!
