It’s Music Monday and it’s once again time for me to check out the five highest new entries in the UK music chart. Who knows what I will have to endure this week?
Our first track today comes from someone called B.Traits and also features someone else called Elisabeth Troy. I have no idea who these people are or what to expect. It’s called Fever and is at number 36. Let’s have a listen then!
Did I just go back in time a decade? How old skool and nineties is that? I don’t really see that as a good thing really. The nineties was the worst decade for music since before the gramophone was invented and it was stuff like this that caused that. It’s an ok song but it’s difficult to go on about how great it is. Just a generic nineties throwback track. 2/5.
One place higher at number 35 are The Vaccines with If You Wanna. I’m thinking this might be a re-entry rather than a new entry because I’ve known this song for ages. It’s a cracker:
A brilliant song! It saddens me that this has only found fame because it has been used for an advert for the terrible “reality” show Made in Chelsea. I guess The Vaccines won’t be too bothered how it got more well know though. A wonderful short little track. 5/5.
Who’s that way up at number 28? Oh My Goodness, it’s Olly Murs. Mr. Murs has been producing some decent pop songs lately so let’s see if this one continues the trend.
Is it just me or is Olly being a bit stalkerish in that video? I think this is a grower but I quite like it already so I’m going to give it 3/5. I might have to reconsider that after a few more listens though.
Up at number six is Plan B. I thought he was too busy making movies to release new songs. Apparently not. This is iLL Manors. There are so many things wrong with that title it’s unreal…
Well that has quite a powerful message behind it but I don’t like it very much, it’s very noisy and just lots of words. The chorus just consists of him saying “OI” a lot. That was my fave bit. This really isn’t my thing. 1/5.
A new number one for infamous woman-beater Chris Brown. It’s entitled Turn up the Music so sounds like a generic poppy-dance track. It might be ok though…
Weird video. The song itself remind me of Ne-Yo a lot. It’s alright but I don’t think I will be rushing to download it. Chris Brown seems to be immensely popular for reasons which are not obvious at all. 3/5.
That’s all for this week, as always let me know your thoughts. I hope there was something you liked anyway.
