Hello. I am writing this from the library and probably should be doing some proper academic work but ssh, no one will know. My clothes are busily drying, though they had to go for an extra cycle. There’s only so long I can entertain myself on campus, I’d much rather do work at home.
The weekend was a pretty good one, mostly because it was extended by a day and I had cleverly arranged it so I had no work to do. This meant I spent the large majority of the weekend either asleep or watching something, whether it be on DVD or online. I did accompany everyone on a trip to the pub on Sunday where my friend Katie and I decided we would make good spies, as you do. So we left the pub and quickly found a man to follow. This poor random guy had us following right out of Winchester city centre and we only stopped because we lost him and were concerned he would jump out at us with a gun. This didn’t happen though and we made it back to the pub perfectly safely.
Yesterday I decided to for a bit of a walk and I of course took my camera to capture anything good I saw. My first visit was to the beautiful Winnall Moors nature reserve where I saw lots of birds and to my delight a water vole, which you can see in the pictures below.
After that I decided to climb a hill I’d heard about called St. Giles’ Hill. I’m not sure who Giles was but he must have done something pretty important to get a hill name after him. For a fairly small hill, I was surprised at how much hard work it took to actually climb up it. There were a lot of steps but the view at the top was worth it. The viewpoint is almost exactly in line with the High Street so you can get a view all the way across Winchester, which looks something like this:
I was relaxing in my room after this with my music playing when my heart was given an unnecessary strain. For no apparent reason there was a big bang and bright spark as my iPod speakers blew their fuse. Alice came running down thinking I’d blown myself up or something but fortunately the speakers were some distance from me. Annoyingly they no longer work so it looks like I will have to purchase some new ones. To make up for this the new ones will have to be pretty awesome.
Despite the most strenuous activity of the weekend being that I walked up a hill, I still very nearly overslept for my lecture today. This was actually because of the whole iPod speaker thing as the fuse on the socket went and reset my alarm clock. I was only woken by my fellow housemates making a racket and this is probably the only time I will ever thank them for it. Still, waking up just ten minutes before you usually leave is not the best start today but I rushed around and somehow ended up arriving at my lecture slightly earlier than usual. Apart from the fact I didn’t have time for breakfast, it actually turned out rather well.
That’s pretty much it for today but before I go I shall tell you about what I’m up to this evening. My mate Chris has the week off for half term (which doesn’t seem very fair) and myself and Mike have Wednesdays off anyway so we decided to go on a night out in Southampton where Mike lives. Apparently he has a surprise for us. Goodness knows what that will be but I shall of course let you know in a future post. See you then!
