The Ginger Kid of Death

I’m still on holiday! It was an early start this morning in order to go and play laser combat. It’s pretty much the same as quasar or laser quest but is outside. Within two minutes of playing I had broken my gun and had to be given a new one. It then took several games before I realised that there was a laser dot in the sight which made aiming a lot easier. I was rubbish to begin with but I began to improve eventually. In one game, teams had to protect a designated VIP. Ours was a little ginger kid who somehow managed to kill most of our own team. I was left to defend him and would have lasted for a while had it not been for a communication error with my dad. I did really well at attacking the “fort” (wooden castle) thanks to some great hiding places and came 4th out of 12 in last man standing, after being shot by the winner. It was an enjoyable 75 minutes despite the ginger killer. I left the combat area with mud on both knees and a rip in my shorts.

After some lunch at the Sports Cafe (a rather average curry actually) and some messing around with my brother in the arcade (rubbish on Guitar Hero and lost at air hockey) we played some badminton. As badminton sessions go it wasn’t the best, thanks to the court being far too long and the artificial grass style surface being awful to run on as it has a huge amount of friction. This even caused me to get a pretty nasty friction burn on my leg. All this and the large amount of noise in the Jardin des Sports made it a little bit rubbish.

After opting out of playing tennis (I’m a badminton guy), we headed to the plaza again for some more swimming. The rapids were pretty busy but on the last go I finally managed to beat my brother to the end (though I will admit it did involve a fair bit of pulling him back). He of course claimed that he wasn’t actually racing so the race was void, but we all know he races every time he goes down there. I also went down the short, steep slides a few times. One of them has a bump in the middle and I was flying through mid-air after hitting it on one occasion.

We seem to have made friends with a squirrel. We saw it running around at the back of our villa and my dad decided to put some nuts out for it. The squirrel didn’t care we were stood only feet away watching it when there was food concerned and happily munched away. There are also some young moorhens wandering around our bit of the forest. They have feet which look several sizes too big for them and this makes them rather comical.

Unfortunately our villa is some way from both the Jardin des Sports and the plaza which means either a long walk or a ride on the land train. The land train is incredibly slow and isn’t massively faster than walking, but at least it involves very little energy. Already I have heard some rather amusing conversations on the land train. However there is annoyingly little leg room and twenty minutes on that really kills your knees (especially after they’ve endured laser combat, badminton and eight goes on the rapids).

Dad said to me, in reference to a groups of girls about my age, that I should me after such girls. And I suddenly realised that for the first time in quite a while, I’m not interested. Every attempt to turn a female into my girlfriend recently has ended terribly, with the result I even had one such case laughing at me on Facebook tonight. I’d rather be single than have all this stress. Maybe when I get to Uni I will meet a nice girl, or maybe later still, but for now I am, as Jason Derulo would say, ridin’ solo. And I actually quite like it.

On My Hols

Hello dear followers, I am currently sitting in my villa in Center Parcs, connected to the Wi-fi here. My house is being guarded by four ex-SAS, each with an AK47 and a Rottweiler (OK maybe not, but there are people living there). Center Parcs is a holiday park/village, whatever you want to call it and is situated near the famous safari park at Longleat. We have been here about nine or ten times before and it’s a lovely break.

We arrived pretty early this morning and mostly mulled around the Plaza where the shops are. We headed to our favourite restaurant which is “Country Pancakes”. Pancake restaurants are pretty unusual in the UK so this is the only opportunity to eat at one. I had a chilli beef pancake, followed by a chocolate heaven one, by which point I was feeling pretty full and a little sick.

Then we returned to the plaza and my brother and I wasted some time and some money in the games arcade. We played some air hockey and my brother insisted he won 7-6 but I say it was a 6-6 draw as that’s what the machine said after my brother’s seventh goal went in. I also failed at driving on a Need for Speed arcade game, though it wasn’t exactly realistic as I drove straight through the sides of several buildings with ease.

Bowling (of the ten pin variety) was the next activity. I was awful even for me with two measly scores of 84 and 88. I like to think the bowling alley was rubbish and has been built on a slope but sadly I don’t think that is the case. Bowling is one of those things that gets me really frustrated as it always reminds me that I am rubbish at everything.

We ended the day by going swimming. Well swimming isn’t exactly the word. Most of the time was spent going down the “Wild Water Rapids” which is basically a man-made river with fast currents and slides along the way on it. My brother has done it so many times he knows the quickest route down by heart. We also went down some fast slides which are pretty steep and send you plunging into the pool at the bottom before you realise you’ve even let go of the rail at the top. The main pool also has a wave simulator on at various times and this is an amusing way to spend a few minutes.

Today I also discovered my new fave drink. I don’t tend to go into Starbucks as I don’t like coffee but I have discovered these wonderful ice drinks they sell called frapacinos (not sure about the spelling!). My fave is the chocolate cream one! It is the perfect drink, way better than a milkshake. I think I shall be having a few more of those during the holiday.

It has been a decent first day though Center Parcs has lost the magical effect it had on me as a child. My brother has also been ridiculously hyper all day which has been both amusing and annoying. I shall return soon with how the second, more exciting, day went.

The Most Interesting Thing Here is a Rug

This blog entry follows my new policy of combining two days into one blog entry when I don’t have a lot to talk about. This means I have a reasonable amount of things to talk about today!

Yesterday was the second part of the training workshop at my work, this time focusing on ADHD. I didn’t know as much about ADHD as autism so this workshop was perhaps even more useful. The information and techniques I learnt during these two days mean I will be better at my job and may even help me in the future when I have a teaching course. I also received a certificate for it, which is always good for a CV.

Whilst I was there, my mum and dad went to that strange country which is IKEA and purchased, amongst other things, some rugs for the living room. So be prepared for the last photo showing a new feature in the room, it’s all done:

Photo0363

Today has been a rather empty day. But nothing bad has happened so it hasn’t been bad, just boring. This weekend should make up for it though, more on that in a minute.

Due to being bored I was driven to correcting spelling mistakes on Facebook, even of local music venue the BIC. They were pretty quick at correcting it though:

New Picture (10)

I also did some filming of something fun for my YouTube. Fun AND messy. I actually filmed several things and these will be coming to a computer screen near you soon (and by soon I mean Tuesday).

So what is happening this weekend (that’s weekend starting tomorrow). Well i actually have plans for four days running, which is both unusual and exciting. I will have loads to blog about but there is a small problem- I may have some technical difficulties. So a blog may appear every day as usual or there might not be one ‘til the problem is fixed, perhaps on Monday evening or at some point on Tuesday. You will just have to wait and see, but either way the next blog entry will be more entertaining.

Hodge-Podge

Today’s blog is going to be a little bit of a hodge-podge of various things, which I quite like. I like the word hodge-podge too. Anyway, let’s get on with it.

I attended a workshop at my work about autism today. I already knew a reasonable amount about autism for one reason or another but I learnt a fair bit today, especially about why autistic children act in a certain way rather than just knowing the ways they act. It’s rather fascinating and as well as being useful at work it will probably come in useful when I become a teacher. I may one day move on to become a special needs teacher but we shall have to see what happens.

And that leads nicely on to a topic I was suggested to talk about: why I want to become a teacher. I have a connection with children where they “get” me and I “get” them. This is something that has developed over many years now. I know that with the right training I can become a good teacher. The satisfaction of seeing a child understand something or produce a fantastic piece of work is a fantastic feeling. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complacent about the whole thing. It will be a challenge and there will be times when I am extremely stressed, but overall it will be a fantastic experience. I am (assuming I get into Uni) about to start a brilliant journey!

I’ve been unusually sleepy today. I had a two hour nap this evening for no apparent reason. It has been quite hot lately and sleep hasn’t been as easy as normal but I’ve not lost much. And though the course today involved a lot of concentrated it wasn’t the hard work that I needed a sleep afterwards. So this need for sleep is a bit of a mystery. It may well be to do with my eyes. Perhaps my sight isn’t as good as I think it is and is causing me to feel tired. I am getting a lot of sleep-dust in my eyes in the mornings recently and I wonder if that’s anything to do with my eyes? If you are an expert on such things perhaps you could let me know.

This next section will be a little odd and I after some events this evening I want to write about it. I have certain values in life I live by- they are not religious, though some religions may share similar values, they are of my own making. Firstly, every human being, no matter what gender, race, disabilities they have, religion or class, should be considered equal. Sadly this happens in very few places, even in countries that are supposed to have such values. Everyone should be entitled to their own opinion on things, and their own likes and dislikes. I might not like the same music as you and I can tell you why not but I shouldn’t force you into thinking it is bad. Freedom of thought defines who we are. The world portrayed in 1984 is a horrible one and the main reason for this is that lack of freedom of thought. Religion comes into this as do likes/dislikes. So have a think about that. Everyone is equal, and they should be free to think what they like.

Wow, that was rather deep for a generally light-hearted blog. I must thank and say hello to the new followers that have found their way to this blog in one way or another. It’s nice to have you on board. Thirty followers! That is rather exciting, to know that some people are actually reading and liking the various thoughts that tumble out of my head.

And on that note, I shall see you (figuratively of course) all tomorrow! I look forward to it!

The Future

So I worked today. Other than saying that I enjoyed it, I can’t really say anything else. But it was nice to meet some new staff- and I hope I get to know one of them a little better Smile with tongue out.

Of course this took up the majority of my day so there is little to blog about. I racked my brains and decided to write a blog about my future.

For those of you who don’t know, I am planning to go to Uni to study Primary Education which is a degree and qualified teacher status (QTS). I am hoping this will be in Winchester as it is a brilliant Uni. Whether I end up there or not all depends on whether I achieved the grades I needed in my exams. I find this out on the 19th August though the University may tell me online whether they have accepted me a day or two before as they get the results before me. The whole situation is extremely stressful now so I dread to think what I will be like in three weeks time.

I have a few options if I don’t make it into Winchester:

  • If grades are high enough go to insurance choice, UWE.
  • Enter “clearing rooms” and attempt to do same/similar course at different University
  • Enter “clearing rooms” and attempt to do different course and then later do a post graduate teaching course.
  • Work for a year, maybe doing an A-level during an evening class, and then apply again next year.

None of these are options I am particularly keen on. I love Winchester Uni and I want to go there. If I do get in then I have to sort out accommodation (hopefully I will have a room on campus), visit Winchester and get to know it, prepare for course and get books etc and pack everything I need to take with me.

The prospects of leaving home and going to Uni are both exciting and frightening. I will have left home and not have my parents to look after me and I will be away from all my friends. But then again I will have more freedom and will be able to make more friends. I’m going to a Uni with 80% girls so the chance of perhaps finding a nice person is fairly high. And, most importantly of all, I will be focusing on what I love doing. That will be fantastic.

Basically what I have just told you is that I don’t know where I will living or studying in two months time but hopefully it will all go to plan and will be Winchester. Fingers are very tightly crossed.

I want you, the readers, to suggest a main topic for me to talk about tomorrow. If there is anything you want to ask or think I could discuss, let me know in a comment. Thanks!

Vegetables, Blood-sucking Bastards and a Detective

I am rather tired tonight so I must apologise in advance for any misstakes mistakes.

I was up fairly early today in order to go down the allotment- I feel like a proper old man saying that. We have now harvested some more vegetables which is quite exciting.

Photo0361

Carrots!

Peas!

This afternoon we were invited to a family friend’s house for a barbeque. This was good as it kept me entertained on an afternoon that I otherwise wouldn’t have been entertained by. As is BBQ tradition we had hot dogs and burgers and not quite so traditional was the rice and home-made BBQ sauce (gorgeous though). We talked about a load of random things including the household’s favourite spoon. It was quite fun and was better than sitting round the house all afternoon.

On my walk this evening I was viciously attacked. For once no-one was fishing in the place I like to sit, so I was sat there but I soon felt a sharp pain come from my foot. I looked down to discover a tick attempting to drink my blood. I quickly removed the bastard and then worried about getting Lyme’s disease. My friend couldn’t move one half of his face for a while thanks to contracting it from a tick in the local area so my hypochondria was running wild. Some Savlon later and it looks like I will live. Moral of the story- don’t wear sandals in a place where ticks probably are, especially if you have hairy feet.

A new exciting drama appeared on TV tonight. It is called Sherlock and is a retelling of some classic Sherlock Holmes tales. It is written by head Doctor Who writer Stephen Moffat and it was fabulous. It’s been a long time since I enjoyed a new TV show so much. Fantastically written, fantastic acting and a brilliant combination of comedy and drama.

Weirdly the blog featured in the show by Dr John Watson actually exists here.

Tomorrow I am working which should be good but does make the matter of tomorrow’s blog a bit difficult, but you’ll have to wait and see what happens…

Badminton and Bournemouth

Hello dear readers, it feels like it’s been ages. Well it has been unusually long but not to worry as this is going to be a fairly long and an enjoyable blog entry. My thoughts are that if I enjoy writing it, you will enjoy reading it. This probably doesn’t work but it’s a nice thought.

I haven’t blogged about yesterday yet, so let’s get that out the way first. It was a rather empty day until my badminton lesson came along. I was rather useless for the first half an hour and ended up practising serves for an entire thirty minutes, which sounds really boring but the time flew really quickly. Last night’s club night was a particular success- I played seven games and won all of them, even with some weak partners. I was playing very near my best towards the end and this is very encouraging.

So, back to the present. Today would have been mine and Gemma’s two year anniversary if we hadn’t split up three months ago. Despite being fairly relaxed about the relationship being over these days, the thought of what could have been was pretty much unavoidable. For some reason I decided to retrace my footsteps of both a year and two years ago and go into Bournemouth. Even my brain is unsure why it decided this.

The purpose of my solo trip was decided to be clothes shopping. I actually think this is the first time I’ve done this alone but I rather enjoyed it. Here’s a few pictures of what I bought:

Photo0358

New headphones- they will actually stay properly in my ears AND they actually play music at a decent volume, unlike my old ones. I love these!

Photo0359
Shorts, with a rather exotic pattern- very different to what I normally wear but maybe my clothing habits are changing.

Photo0360

T-shirts- The stripy one was an obvious choice, I like my stripes. Yes, the other one says “I’d do me”. I only realised it said that when I took this picture, otherwise I never would have bought it. I’d feel uncomfortable wearing that with my parents around and whilst I’m living at home that is unavoidable. I might wear this shirt when I go to Uni though. I also bought some socks and underwear seeing as stocks are low due to many items apparently vanishing in the washing.

Whilst eating lunch (footlong Subway Melt with BBQ sauce on Italian bread) I got a text from Mike informing me he was coming to Bournemouth this afternoon. This was unexpected but welcome. He only landed back in the country from Tenerife last night so I was pleased with his commitment towards me. We sat on the beach for a while (and checked out hotties Smile with tongue out), trawled through dozens of shops whilst Mike looked for some shirts and a new watch, visited the amusement arcade and sat in the gardens. We had a laugh and that really cheered me up. Is the me in a parallel universe celebrating a two year anniversary happier than the me here having a laugh with my mate? That is of course impossible to tell but I have the feeling it would actually be pretty close and I may even be happier here.

I returned by bus a few hours later. I like travelling by bus. The amusing conversations between OAPs or young teenagers (they are pretty much the only users of our buses) are good entertainment. Also even a single-decker bus is significantly higher than travelling in a car and has bigger windows so you get a good view and get to be nosey. And I love it when bus drivers wave to each other, it’s so satisfying somehow.

There you go, a decent blog for a change. Tomorrow I shall be giving you an update on the allotment and anything else that happens. I shall now press the button which has a giant arrow orbiting the Earth- the “Publish” button of course!

Wed/Thurs Combo Entry

I wasn’t in the mood to write a blog entry last night and I figured I may as well combine two entries into one to save time and make one vaguely interesting blog entry rather than two boring ones. It will make up for doing extra entries earlier in the year anyway!

So yesterday morning, in Wednesday tradition, I went with my dad to see my granddad. We ended up going into Wimborne again and was a relatively enjoyable morning. I got a sausage roll for breakfast as well. That is about all I did yesterday. Which is depressing. I did get another tweet from part-time Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson again though, which at least put a smile on my face for a few minutes.

Amazingly, I did even less today. This has a lot to do with only getting up at 12PM as well as a lack of things on my list. It was my brother’s birthday today (he’s 15) and I did think we were going to go out somewhere for tea but instead we got take-away pizzas. All 12 inches of mine was a lovely Mexicana pizza with tortilla chips on it. Unfortunately it also had pineapple on it and due to my hatred of pineapple I had to take the pieces off one by one. I am a really fussy eater.

My mood has been particularly low over the last few days. I hate this mood and it will probably disappear for a few days and then rear it’s ugly depressing head again. Music has literally saved me from total self-destruction. It can be so powerful when given the right circumstances. I have spent a fair bit of time by the lake over the last few days too as that relaxes me. I even went twice today. Speaking of which, here is a video I randomly made where I discuss random things. Enjoy!

Click to watch!

Apologies for having so little to say despite the amount of time I have to talk about. Maybe something of interest will happen tomorrow but at least I will have badminton to talk about. See you soon!

Toy Story 3

In a world where I have been abandoned by people who once loved me and I’d grown used to calling a friend , I can at least take some pleasure in knowing that this will be a flipping good post.

Today began very weird when I caught Deal or No Deal on TV. Except for this episode it had been renamed Desert Island Deal, Noel Edmonds was dressed like Robinson Crusoe and was performing monologues, the boxes had become crates and the audience were dressed as the ocean. And proof that this seriously happened is here:

Photo0352

The plan for today was for me and Chris to go into Bournemouth to see Toy Story 3. It was a rather enjoyable bus journey as we spotted chavs in Boscome, which pedestrian's were hot and the weird shops our country has to offer. We had lunch at Subway and Shakeaway (perfect combo in my books) and failed to find Chris a suit, though we did find some hideous T-shirts. The various trailers and adverts were enjoyable for once as we were mostly taking the piss out of them.

ts3-b

So, Toy Story 3. The reviews told me to expect it to be good but I would go more along the lines of “awesome”. The great thing about it being the third film is you can rejoin characters we know and love. This adventure goes way beyond the previous ones in terms of both danger and emotions. The new characters are fantastic and there is a lot of comedy in the film too. The last twenty minutes are truly spectacular and I couldn’t help but feel a tear in my eye as the inevitable finally happened. I cannot recommend this film enough. It is so, so brilliant. Watch it.

The idea of Andy going to college and leaving his toys behind of course made me think about myself going to University and doing the same. Almost all my toys have gone now including the pirate ship I once loved and even more precious to me, my many Lego men and there various vehicles and accessories. But I do have my beloved Mexico, the teddy bear that went with me everywhere and I held in my arms every night as a child. I will never part with him because of the way he made me feel as a child. Here is a slightly blurry picture of him:

Photo0354

Not a day goes by now without me having to explain to someone where I am going to Uni and what I am doing. The tension is building incredibly yet nothing is actually happened at the moment. I just have to wait until my results and then the end of September before my future can start. What an adventure life really is. Smile

A Nice ‘Lil Day

*Waves*

Hello dear friends and followers, welcome to another day of my life. A day that wasn’t really exciting in the slightest. My things to do list is empty, my work experience is over and as the holidays have yet to begin my holiday job has yet to begin. So life is pretty empty right now, well for this week anyhows.

I shall of course still talk nonsense nonetheless. It is what I am good at. I decided to scrap the Monday review feature because I don’t think it was working very well and besides, it means I can talk about things I’ve watched and read in a relevant post rather than a week later. So on Friday I ended up watching How to Train your Dragon. It’s everything you want a kids film to be- funny, a good moral message, a sense of adventure- and it has dragons in it! I rather enjoyed this film thanks to my childish interior. Also I think Hiccup is the perfect name for a main character and suits him to the ground. And the dragons are fantastic!

Dragon

Oh, I’ve put a little How to Train Your Dragon widget at the bottom of this blog for you to enjoy!

The highlight of today was going for my walk and as I haven't put many pictures on this blog lately I decided to take some for exactly that purpose.

Photo0346

This panoramic shot shows exactly why I love this area. A lovely footpath through the trees between a lake and some fields is perfect to gather your thoughts.

Photo0347

A rather lovely-looking sky tonight makes it all the better.

Photo0348

You can just make out in the middle of that picture an apache helicopter flying over head. Quite why, I don’t know.

After last week’s work experience I am looking forward to going to Uni. I want to start learning how to be a proper teacher and I want to meet new people and have some exciting new experiences. It’s a month today until this is confirmed (hopefully) by my exam results. Going to Uni will probably be the best thing to happen in my life so far and I really am excited now. I have this awesome Summer to get through first though!

An Era is (Camp)over

Hello dear readers, I write this entry after being deprived of much sleep but I shall type away through the lack of sleep just for you.

So last night was the Young Rangers Campover and my last Young Rangers event, after five years of going to them. Shortly after arrival we headed to the birch clearing that would be our camp for the night. We were sleeping under ponchos spread out and tied to trees. The lack of trees in our part of the clearing meant we had to use a lot of rope to actually reach the trees and our little shelter made of three ponchos used fifteen pieces of rope!

Whilst the fire was warming up and the food was being prepared we played around with some hoops, mostly by attempting to jump through them as they rolled along the ground. I have no athletic ability of any kind so everyone found my attempts to jump through them rather entertaining. Someone at the camp had to leave for hospital after an incident with a stick caused a cut above their eyebrow. They were fine though apparently.

For tea we had sausages and a vegetable “soup”. In fact it was more water than vegetables so we ended up calling it broth instead. There were some jacket potatoes available too but the one I ended up with looked like a lump of coal, so I didn’t eat it.

After another mild accident and a child had recovered from being away from their mother, we headed out for a bit of orienteering in the dark. It’s hard enough to find the stupid posts in the light but in the dark it’s another matter and everything looks a little different. We found all but one of our assigned posts though with the missing one hiding somewhere in the bushes. We eventually headed back to camp and sat round the campfire for a bit. Here we told a few jokes and a lot of banter went around, especially when one of the young rangers said, as a joke, that his girlfriend was pregnant. He said it very seriously for a minute and this led to us making constant jokes about the upcoming birth of his first child.

We eventually returned to our shelters but we sat up and chatted ‘til gone 1AM and then I had to deal with a snoring person by my feet. I did get some sleep but I awoke at 5AM to the sound of a cockerel crowing, a cow mooing, the dawn chorus and the local car boot sale doing it’s first announcement of the morning. Also it was freezing cold so I figured I wasn’t getting any more sleep and went and sat by the fire. One of the young rangers regretted bringing a hammock when he was woken up by being tipped out of it.

A couple of hours later we had breakfast which consisted of bacon rolls and Rice Krispies. I was lucky enough to get an extra bit of bacon as it was my last time. Some toast was attempted to be made but it was more like charcoaled bread. I still ate it though.

For the last few hours, we did some fishing. I was so close to completing another item on my list of things to do before I die when I got a bite from a rather sizeable fish but due to my inexperience I lost it. Some others caught some sizeable tench and a perch, much to the amusement of the little kids.

And then it was all over. I said some goodbyes and was promised a host of new Facebook friends, and my last ever young ranger’s session ended. Five years of Young Rangers and ten years of events at Moors Valley have come to an end. Pretty much everything in my life has come to an end recently and as yet I have no confirmation of a future. Fingers crossed.

B.I.D 19#

Due to the wonders of technology this post has become live without me having to do anything. I wrote this back on Thursday but right now I am busily preparing a campsite and having a laugh. Whilst I am there I thought I would tell you about something on my list of things to do before I die.

Thing Number 19 is to learn to ski. I was twelve when I first when skiing with my family. The resort we went to was La Plagne in the French Alps. I was put into a children’s beginner group and was one of the oldest people there along with an Irish girl called Keena (it’s amazing the stuff I remember). Everyone else was about five which was quite embarrassing. After spending the first day falling into the snow on a small slope, by the end of the week I was going down some considerable pistes.

A few years later I went to Val Thorens in France. This time I was in a group with my dad and the instructor was happy to send us down slopes which were incredibly steep. The highest difficulty slope is a black slope and we were doing the next level down red slopes. Going down some of these slopes was probably the most terrifying experience of my life. But as scary as it was it did help me to improve my skiing.

The third and last time I went skiing was at Ruka in Finland. This time my dad and myself just went down loads of slopes ourselves. Here is a picture of me on ski’s in front of a giant snowman!

2007_0225Finland0110_edited

I am now a fairly confident skier but I am never going to be an expert. I having been skiing for three years but hopefully I will go again sometime in the near future. Skiing is great fun and you get to see some fantastic scenery whilst going fast down a hill without putting in much effort. It’s fantastic.

Dragon’s, Smith’s and Sandwiches

So today was my final day doing work experience at Junior School. It was actually a pretty easy day for me today as I watched the kids make presentations and vaguely helped with some maths games and then watched How to train Your Dragon with them. That gives me something else to review on Monday! It’s weird that a year of visiting the class is over and I have got to know the characters in the class and I will actually miss them in a weird kind of way. They have been a lovely class. I got a fairly glowing teacher evaluation which I was pleased with and a box of shortbread from one of the children.

Something a bit random now. I listened to Jaden Smith on the Chris Moyles show and saw the whole family, Will Smith being the most famous of them, on tonight’s One Show. They are a really lovely family and it’s nice to see a family with such fame so normal and entertaining. Also The Karate Kid movie looks really good and I think I may go and see either it or Toy Story 3 next week.

Badminton club night was a bit hit and miss today. Pardon the pun. I seemed to hit some awesome shots and some rubbish ones. On a plus note I didn’t get worn out as easily as normal so all this exercise must be helping.

This week for lunch I have been having roast chicken and stuffing sandwiches. They are truly the best sandwiches ever but now work experience is over I have no reason to go to the shop that sells them. I have also learnt today that Tesco have started making lasagne sandwiches and they look AMAZING! I really, really want one. Probably not going to help with the fitness if I have too many though…

alg_resize_lasagna-sandwich

I am busy tomorrow but fear not I have pre-written a blog about a winter sport in the middle of July. Planned that well…

How Things Have Changed

So another day’s work experience today. I enjoyed observing (alright joining in) with singing. “The Cat Came Back” was always my fave song when I was in Junior School and so it was lovely to be singing it again. I also did some boring admin work (sadly that’s an important part of being a teacher) and took part in circle time. It’s quite odd to think that it will be over tomorrow.

I have been thinking about various things whilst I’ve been there, mostly teaching stuff of course, but one thought I had was about what has changed about the school. New headteacher and some slightly changed rules, no French exchange, interactive whiteboards and a slightly more ethnically diverse population. It’s not that much but it feels generally weird. The thing that has changed most of course is me. I was eleven when I left the school and I’ve returned seven years later nearly a grown up. It confuses the teachers so much.

Another gym session went well this evening and I half watch a programme about chickens. Yes really.

Despite the happiness this week has brought me, there is still a certain sadness lying within me. Regular readers will know what I am talking about but it’s not a difficult thing to guess. Girls. I would love to not find the need to have a girlfriend but I just do. It’s natural. Right now there isn’t anyone within ten miles who is remotely interested and I’ve kind of got to the stage where it’s not worth looking anymore. Eventually I hope I will find the right person but I have to be patient. I’m not a patient person. Writing this here won’t make the slightest bit of difference really. Yet still I write. Even I don’t know why.

In a vaguely related subject, I haven't heard from Gemma in nearly two weeks which tells me she has well and truly moved on. I was hoping to have a close friendship with her but you at least need to talk to do that. She will always mean a lot to me in a friendship way.

Time to end before I depress myself any further. Before I go I just want to say thanks to all the people who have commented on here and spoken to me on Formspring lately, you’re all lovely, though I do prefer it if you leave your name. I love getting your comments!

Being a Proper Adult

As I write rain lashes against my window with a fair bit of force. This is how we expect a British Summer to be. Hopefully this rain will last no longer than it needs to fill up the water supplies and put some moisture into the soil at the allotment. Then, under my orders, it must return to being sunny again.

Today and yesterday at work experience have been simply amazing. I feel like a proper adult what with going to work in the morning and being responsible. Over the last few days I have taken registers, spelt out countless words and even participated in a game of rounder's. It is exhausting yet incredibly fulfilling and I am really pleased with the career choice I made and look forward to the time when I will be doing this full time and will be the one in charge of the class.

Talking of exhausting, I have continued on my mission to lose a bit of weight and get much fitter. My gym sessions have are now 50 minutes long and I need to go to a higher level on the machines in order to properly work out. I can tell all this is working as it takes much longer before I become tired my heart rate doesn’t go as high as it did a week ago. The aim is to continue this for most of the Summer so that I will be a rather fit and trim young man when I go to University. Doing work experience at a school at the far side of town has also helped as I have walked the several mile distance four times so far this week.

The gym I go to though seems to always have TV programmes on that nobody in the building is interested in watching. There is always BBC News which you can watch for about ten minutes before the same story is repeated, ITV1 which seems to always be Emmerdale when I go in (it’s just crap) and then Sky Sports who have little to show at the moment other than profiles of various famous footballers. All in all, rubbish. I listen to my iPod and the rhythm helps me to exercise. Mark Ronson’s new song, Bang Bang Bang, is a cracker and will certainly be synced to my iPod very soon.

Not a lot else to say. Obviously all this work experience stuff is taking up my life right now and as I can’t talk about it much I have little to say here. Bare with me for a little while as there is loads of brilliant things coming up soon for me to talk about. So hang around, though while you’re hear please make sure you keep hydrated. Thank You.

A Late Monday Review

Films

the-hurt-locker-pic

The Hurt Locker This is a war film set in Iraq and is about a bomb disposal team. The leader of the team has an addiction to war and another of the team has some psychology issues. The action scenes are phenomenal and have you holding your breath as you wait to see whether the various bombs get defused before they explode. At first you think there isn’t much to the characters but they develop lots as time goes by. This is one of those films that is hard to predict the ending but the ending that happens is satisfactory. This film barely made it’s budget back at in the cinema’s but it did really well at the last Oscar’s. Epically brilliant.

Books

Big_Brother_1984

Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell This is perhaps the best book of the 20th Century. It is set in an England not hugely different from out own but one that where the government have total control over the people and the past. The ideas in this certainly make you think about how the world works and Winston Smith is a likeable central character as he isn’t a generic fictional one but a normal bloke. It’s a difficult novel to describe simply because of it’s brilliance. You must read this if you haven't already, even if you hardly ever read books. It is absolutely fantastic and will really get you thinking. One of the best books I have ever read. Literally ever.

TV Shows

b00t3z58_178_100

101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow This is the BBC’s latest action gameshow following the success of Hole in the Wall and Total Wipeout. I love this type of show. Basically contestants are dropped of a tower into a swimming pool in various different ways. That’s basically the reason for watching it and you will know straight away if it appeals to you. The show is dragged out far longer than necessary but we must take the rough with the smooth to watch people cycle off a tower. Steve Jones is a really good presenter though and this show suits him to the ground-well tower. I enjoyed it but you might not.

Sporting Events

vuvuzela_fankultur

2010 FIFA World Cup (Football) Obviously this was a bad competition if you support one of the major teams who failed to do well like England, Italy, Brazil and Argentina. And a terrible one if you’re French. But I want to review it on a neutral point of view. Many of the games were rather dull as we saw teams with no hope of progressing very far play each other and good teams just being boring. But there were some very good games such as Portugal winning 7-nil. Spain were deserving champions though they were rather boring at doing this, winning nearly every game 1-nil. The refereeing this year was diabolical with some terrible decisions made. South Africa were an excellent host and I think the vuvuzelas added to the atmosphere. Overall, not the best competition ever but good one.

Hope you enjoyed this week’s reviews and I shall see all of you lovely followers very soon.

Happy Days

I wasn’t supposed to be writing a “proper” blog entry tonight but I cannot resist. The Monday review will be tomorrow. Hey, it’s my blog, I can do what I like.

So today was the first day of a two week stretch of work experience in the Junior School today. Mostly I helped out where I could with the kids were pleased to hear I’m in all week. I also learnt how to use the photocopier which is another key life skill I need to hold on to. Of course that’s about all I can tell you about my day there as obviously it’s not right to talk about it but I don’t see anything wrong in vaguely mentioning what I did. I felt that though it wasn’t brilliant time in the classroom the discussions I had with the teacher taught me quite a lot. I’ve suddenly regained that excitement about becoming a teacher that seemed to disappear for a little while. Now we’re back in business.

I arrived home absolutely exhausted from a day on my feet and a reasonably long walk home in the baking sun. Having done very little for the past three weeks my body has become accustomed to little activity. It is going to have to get used to it again though. Shortly after arriving home I had to pop into town with my Dad (and for some unknown reason my brother too) to buy some shirts as my normal one would be pretty smelly by the end of the week. I got a lovely selection. I really enjoy buying new clothes which is one of the many stereotypical gay traits I have. If you were to describe a stereotypical gay man and then me, you realise that there are many similarities. Of course I love my ladies but I always think that I seem to many people as rather homosexual. I’ve gone off the point now. Basically, I bought some nice shirts.

This evening I went to the gym AGAIN! Exercise four days running is unheard off. I got up to forty-five minutes today and I rather enjoyed it. My badminton coach was there and gave me a tip on how many RPM I should have on the bike’s which helped me focus a lot as did my iPod playing some wonderful tunes at me, despite the rather rubbish quality I heard them at thanks to my rubbish headphones (I must get/find some new ones). I enjoyed exercise. Also I am pretty sure that a girl a couple of machines along kept glancing in my direction. Which was also nice.

A couple of hello’s now. First to the anonymous regular reader (you forgot to leave your name silly bean). Hello. And second to the (probably) lovely Miss Anon. Hello.

As you might be able to tell from the tone of this writing, I am in an immense mood. It has been weeks since I felt as good as this. I await tomorrow with baited breath in the hope it will be even better. You will be getting a Monday review tomorrow, promise. Night gorgeous people!

Beaching, Gymming and World Cup-ing

Bonj! Another fabulous blog entry from Yours Truly has arrived. You’re welcome.

As per usual for a Sunday, I was dragged out of me sometime close to midday. I’m not sure what it is about Sunday’s that make me want to sleep longer. But there is something.

Speaking of sleeping, I forgot to mention the dream I had Friday night to you. I dreamt I was back at Sixth Form and the teachers all turned out to be robots. Weapons appeared from their arms and heads and they were all after me. I took great delight kicking the shit out of some of them whilst the generic other sixth formers ran off screaming. Then I woke up. Odd.

I accompanied my parents down to the beach this afternoon. Which made me feel about six again but with an interest to the girls in bikinis. Anyway, I went with my mum into the sea and laughed a lot when she fell over in it and then stood up and got a wave in the face. The waves were really big today and many were large enough to go completely over the top of me. My dad doesn’t do sea water so he kept safely to the beach. After a while we went and bought an ice cream (Supreme Mint Crunch) and slowly headed back to the car.

I went to the gym again today and all this exercise must be a good thing. I did 40 minutes today by the end of which by legs were threatening to disown me completely and drop off. Whilst doing this exercise I had my iPod going whilst sort of watching Songs of Praise and the World Cup closing ceremony at the same time. The gym was nice and quiet which is how I like it, without all the really fit people in there making me feel even worse than I do already. I shall try and go most days in the coming week and my fitness can only improve from doing that.

Tonight of course was the World Cup final. It was a rather dull game between Holland and Spain with Spain being the better team and Holland constantly fouling them. Holland received nine yellow cards during the game, two of these going to the same player, and Spain won in the final minutes of extra time. This of course means that Paul the physic Octopus correctly predicted every single game this World Cup. Which is probably a complete coincidence actually. Still, nice work Paul!

Tomorrow I begin my two week work experience and my blog will be another Monday review! I shall see you then. And will the real Miss Anon please stand up?

Building Stonehenge and Dead people on bikes

A marginally better day today though I would struggle to describe it as a good one.

The first activity of the day was exercise in the gym. I kept the promise I made myself for one day at least. I had a good but tiring half an hour during which I learnt about the demise of Raul Moat. Predictable end. I didn’t go for a swim as planned mainly ‘cos I wasn’t really in the mood. I was also pretty careful of what I ate today and mostly avoided snacking which is a significant improvement to usual. If I can carry this one for a little while I will be thinner, lighter and fitter in next to no time.

After a shower I wondered what to do with my day and figured I could put together the small model of Stonehenge I was given as a present sometime ago. I quite like it and it fills the empty spot on my windowsill quite effectively. Rome wasn’t built in a day- but Stonehenge was!

Photo0344

Most of the rest of the day was filled up with watching various thing recorded on our Sky+ box and I actually managed to catch up with some of my fave programs. Which is nice.

After watching the first half of what could be my new fave TV show, 100 Ways to Leave a Gameshow,(more on that on Monday), I went and met Kyla for a walk and a catch up. We mostly discussed our lives and the odd other random thing. We both found the idea of a dead body on a bike very funny. And what happens when a bird dies? I mean, are they just flying along and then suddenly fall out the sky? Also Kyla was excited when she saw a horse pee for the first time. She’s easily pleased.

Tomorrow we will harvest more stuff from our allotment, might go down the beach and it’s the World Cup final.

Oh and before I go I would like to see if you are reading this. Write me a quick comment if you are and introduce yourself to me. I will beg if necessary.

Please…

Furniture, Fitness and Fed Up

Welcome dear readers, to a blog entry which fails to keep up the cheer of most. I apologise for that but all will be explained.

Three tasks were assigned to me today by my mother who seems determined to keep me busy. Dad did one of them which saved me the job and the second was to help move furniture. Though awkward and hard work due to the unusual heat of today, it wasn’t too bad a job. Except for the table. We got it out through the hall but the angle going back in was too much and meant we had to go right round the back of the house and through the conservatory.

The next job was another sorting stuff out type job, this time my wardrobe. I had a few ripped pairs of trousers to throw out as well as a load of old pyjamas. I have given up wearing them these days and the most I have on in bed is underwear and a Bournemouth Football club shirt. Quite why I felt the need to tell you that I don’t know. I filled a charity bag with old hoodies. I love my hoodies but some of them are far too small now. The things I did in those hoodies…Oh no, I am going all sentimental about an inanimate object again. Whoops.

Today has been hot. When I say hot I mean about 27 degrees Celsius. It’s England and that is pretty hot for here. And apparently it will be even hotter tomorrow. This meant the sweat poured off me during my badminton lesson this evening. Despite having done next to no exercise since the last lesson I felt relatively fit today and was barely worn out. When I went to take my shirt off afterwards I had trouble as it was literally stuck to me, almost as if someone had glued it there. Attractive I know.

Speaking of attractiveness, that’s I suppose the main reason why I am attempting to lose some weight at the moment. I seem to get both “lazy” and “large” several times a day now and I hate it. I’m not too bad in reality but if I carry on doing no exercise that will soon change. I worked hard and ran lots in my badminton lesson and club night today and a visit to the gym and swimming pool is planned for tomorrow morning. Hopefully if I can do this most days I will at least achieve something, especially if I can control my food intake a lot better.

Actually I’ve been fairly cheery so far but here comes the miserable part. In simple terms, I am fed up of life at the moment. The majority of each day involves me sat on my bed refreshing various websites. I would happily go out and do something but nobody wants to. Seriously, I can’t find a single one of my friends that wants to do something. Also I’m not technically a student at the moment as I haven't got my Uni place confirmed. I don’t know where I will be in a few months or where I will be living. If I knew this then a large weight would be lifted off my mind and I would be looking forward to meeting loads of new people. Currently it has been nearly a week since I spoke to someone my own age face to face. That can’t be good for me. I’ve attempted to organise something for the weekend but four hours on and no-one is interested. Even Miss Anon seems to have vanished. I still have another eleven weeks of this. How the hell will I cope with that?

I think that paragraph was pretty miserable sounding. Hopefully someone will save me from all this before too long. Until then I shall sit in my lonely bedroom and occasionally pop out to see what new tasks have been assigned to me.

Doing some tasks and Quiz times!

Hello everyone! And “everyone” is slightly more today as I now have twenty followers as well as all the people who read on Facebook. It’s lovely to have you all on board so let’s go and sail this blog-ship across the ocean of today.

I awoke to find my Father painting the skirting boards of the living room as these are the only things that needed work done before the room is perfect. This does however mean that I shall have to help move the rest of the furniture back into the room tomorrow. I hate doing this and not because of the physical effort but because of the worry I will drop the piece of furniture and damage it or the floor.

Now there aren’t workmen making the route across the house precarious I was able to complete the tasks on the “to do” list that my mum created for me and stuck to the fridge door. The first of these was to clear weed from the pond. This is something I have had to do on a continuous basis since we put the pond in and it seems to take only a few weeks for all the weed to build back up again. The second task was to throw away the dead plants on my window sill. I’ve been rubbish at watering them lately and so all but a few of the cacti have perished. One of the plants I had to throw away has actually been sat there for ten years. The things that little plant has witnessed over that time: blood, sweat, tears, romance and heartbreak. Despite only being a plant I’m sad I have to part with it but it’s my fault for not watering the thing.

My list has now been added too and contains “clean floor” and “move furniture” at this precise moment. What fun. My mother accused me of being lazy today and I couldn’t help but feel offended. I’m not lazy, I just don’t have anything to do. If I could find places to go and people to go with then I would certainly go with them and do stuff. I am not being lazy I am just lonely and have nothing to do. However sitting around the house is making me rather unfit, possibly the worst I have ever been, and I really need to do something about this. So starting tomorrow I am going to attempt to make an effort to get fitter, mostly by going to the gym. It will be somewhere to go if nothing else which I need for empty days like today.

This evening it was time for me to help my dad run another quiz to raise money for a charity. The charity today was the one which my mother works for and was held in the back room of a small pub. The start was delayed due to the late arrival of the food with perhaps the worst curry I have ever had- though still edible. The quiz itself was rather successful as usual, with by amazing marking and adding up scores being particularly important. There was only a point in it and everyone rather enjoyed themselves. I won a months free membership at Fitness First which is pretty pointless seeing as though I’m already a member of David Lloyd so we’ll have to pass that on some how. I could have won a bottle of wine if it hadn’t been for the organisers sudden change of mind of what the prize was.

Tomorrow I shall be moving furniture around and have a badminton lesson where my coach is trying to improve my every decreasing fitness. See you then!

Breakfast, Boring Football and a Breakthrough

I’m late writing this is know and this nearly never happens. Sorry. But still, this entry has made it to the internet so no complaints there.

Today began with a full English breakfast. I’m not sure I’ve ever actually had a full English breakfast before so this was a new thing for me. The reason for it was that it was my Granddad’s birthday and so it was a special birthday treat. Toast, fried egg, bacon, sausage and potato “things” from the lovely Stewart’s garden centre for a very reasonable price. Every day should start like this. Though if it did I would look like the side of a house very quickly.

The three of us then headed into the priory town of Wimborne for the usual charity shop crawl they do. I just go around and pretend I’m interested but most of the charity shops have useless old women as staff and you trip over fifty three things on the way in. My granddad found a couple of glass paperweights he collects so it was a fairly successful day in that respect.

This afternoon was another work experience session and I learnt how to use a laminator. A valuable life skill I think. Actually I think we have a laminator in the house somewhere and now I can use it I will end up laminating various random things. Next week I begin two weeks full work experience which will be exhausting especially as I am camping the weekend between. It’s going to be a long but hopefully rather enjoyable fortnight.

Not long after arriving home the nice floor men announced they had finished. Our living room is looking rather nice for once and this will last maybe several weeks. Here is what the floor looks like:

Photo0343

I’ve talked about this before but I find it fascinating that so many people have an incredible skill in doing something. These floor people do this every day of their lives and literally know pretty much everything there is to know about fitting floors. It’s a skill that is generally pretty useless other than for their work but still they have it. Other people with similar incredible yet fairly useless skills include sofa delivery men, TV satellite fitters and people who chop down trees.

Tonight’s World Cup Semi-final was a little disappointing with a one-nil win to Spain seeing them through to the final against Holland. The commentary by Chris Moyles made it more enjoyable though. Interestingly enough Paul the physic octopus managed to predict every one of Germany’s results correctly in this World Cup. Nice one Paul!

download

Why was this blog late then? Well it wasn’t that I was busy but rather that I wasn’t in the mood to write it. The story about the Grandfather I never knew came out last night and it was heart-breaking. He always wanted to get in touch with my dad but was worried about being rejected and it was pretty much the same from my dad’s side too. I won’t go into full details of our discoveries as it doesn’t seem appropriate but my granddad father lived a very difficult life especially towards the end of it. I wish more than anything else right now that I could have met him, maybe just a few times. Sadly though that is not possible as he passed away three years ago.

No idea what I’ll have tomorrow but I’m sure it will be random and at least slightly enjoyable.

Floors, Football and Friends

Hiya! I hope you are well lovely reader. Once again this is going to be one of those blogs filled with a few little things that happened in my life today. Well that is how this blog works really.

First, I bet you are dying to know whether the floor is finished. You couldn’t care less? That’s a shame because I am going to tell you anyway. It isn’t quite finished mainly due to the fact one of the workmen was puking up within ten minutes of leaving our house yesterday (we’re do have hygiene, promise) and so only half the workforce was in today. But here is what the floor looks like right now:

Photo0342

Obviously that wooden bit is how the whole floor will look like when it’s finished.

There was enough floor installed by this evening to put the TV and the sofas back in their rightful places so we could watch the first World Cup Semi-final, Uruguay Vs. Holland. I wanted Holland to win because they are the better teams, Uruguay cheated their way into this round and the ref that messed up our chances of qualifying was from Uruguay. Holland did win, 3-2, making for a fantastic game with some brilliant goals. Hopefully Holland will win the competition but they will have a tough opponent in either Spain or Germany, depending on which makes it through.

I would love to tell you lots of amazing things I did today but I didn’t really do much. I caught up writing in my diary and played on my Wii for most of the day. I did actually have some online conversations with two people who randomly decided to talk to me which is pretty unusual but I rather liked it.

I have a few people to congratulate today. Chris for getting a track signed for an iTunes release and Julia for getting into Universities. Both have involved a lot of hard work and I imagine both may have a significant impact into their respective lives. Well done guys, I’m glad things are going well for you.

Tomorrow I can shall actually be properly going out! This is rather exciting as I don’t think I could take another day of this ridiculous boredom. As well as details about that my blog tomorrow will also feature a finished floor and my thoughts on Spain Vs. Germany. Look forward to seeing you again then.

Imprisoned and Our First Harvest

Yesterday we had our first harvest at our allotment. OK, so we didn’t exactly harvest much but that’s because most things still need a little while. But we harvested a row of potatoes and here they are:

Photo0336

They were later cleaned up and some were eaten. They are the best potatoes I have ever tasted and I’m not just saying that because I helped grow them. Home-grown vegetables taste better than rubbish supermarket bought ones. FACT. It is also very satisfying to eat something that you grew yourself as you know that all the effort was worth it.

In other allotment news, I noticed a poppy growing in one corner which is nice!

Photo0337

Today I awoken far early than I wanted to be up in order to help my father move furniture out of the living room. Getting the sofas through the conservatory door was a complete nightmare but eventually we succeeded in creating an empty room.

Photo0338

The reason for doing this was because the new floor is being put in today and tomorrow. As you can see from that photo, the carpet is horrible now. It has various stains all over it due to drinks being spilt and cats killing things on it. We are now putting a hard floor there instead so all messes can be wiped up.

This meant however that the living room was out of action and to get to the kitchen we had to leave the house through the front door and go round the back. Considering how many times I visit the kitchen in an average day. this quickly became a nuisance. Also it meant I couldn’t watch any TV today so I had to entertain myself with stuff in my room which was OK but there is only so long you can sit in the same surroundings! It was like being in prison, albeit a nice one!

The cats too were rather restricted in their movement and could only go in the kitchen and the conservatory but Sherbet found a gap in the sofas that were piled up and slept there.

Photo0340

I made a small video to demonstrate what our living room is like right now. So here it is:

New Floor Video

Hopefully it will all be finished by tomorrow evening in time for us to sit and watch the football. Also hopefully I shall hear from Miss Anon again tonight. And perhaps I will hear from a certain other someone tonight too Smile

PS- I find the need to write more stuff so here we go. First I’ve now had over 300 visitors to this blog since the start of June. Secondly one of my fave bloggers has nicked the whole B.I.D thing off of me which I love. And finally something more important. I was having a bit of a think about the way I am. I’m so quick to judge people these days and half the things I consider bad are things I’ve done or traits I have myself which is stupidly hypocritical. In terms of people, my mind is very much closed and if they don’t conform to how I think they should be I make no effort to get to know them. This needs to change. I need to be more confident and less judgemental. Perhaps then I will get where I want to be in life.

Saturday Stuff

I have the slightly difficult challenge of writing this blog before I’ve actually done anything today. Explanations about that in a minute.

First I can talk about a few minor things that happened yesterday. I had my hair cut and this time the fringe will hopefully decided to stay fairly short until the next cut. Last night’s badminton session saw some truly awful games from me. I only succeeded in winning one out of seven though the huge gap between games wasn’t exactly helping. I’ve now answered my thousandth question on Formspring and it was asked by the mysterious Miss Anon. Still anonymous there though.

I finished reading “1984” yesterday and I really enjoyed it. My first thoughts were that Orwell (the author) was a bit out with the year but the terrible regime in the book is slowly being created. Then I realised that we aren’t actually that far away from it. Everywhere we go, we can be seen on camera. How do we know that the history we get taught actually did happen? Why should we believe the government telling us that the holocaust happened rather than the neo-Nazis? Either view is actually fairly plausible and it’s only the evidence that makes us believe it did happen. So we are pretty sure it did. But the government does kind of control history in a way. They can re-write little bits here and there until eventually over a period of a generation or two that entire piece of history has changed. That could actually be happening right now. How many of us really know what is going on in the government? We may well be in this terrible regime without even realising it. But the one thing we do have is freedom of speech. At least in this country. I can say pretty much what I like and know I will not be killed by it. So the state portrayed in “1984” isn’t exact but it could be more close than we even realise.

That was a rather deep and meaningful set of thoughts for this early in the morning. Time to go back to some more unimportant chatter. I would like to say a big hello to all my new followers! I have seventeen now and this is wonderful news. I love the thought that people actually read the nonsense I tap out here.

So why am I writing this so early on in the day? Well it is because I shall be out this evening at Sammy’s 18th Birthday Party. I’ve never been to a club before, it’s in Southampton which is at least half an hour drive away and I will know about three people there. That isn’t an exaggeration either, I genuinely will only know about three people. So it will certainly be an experience but I might make a new friend. Normally I would day no to this sort of thing, an adventure into the unknown, but I am trying to say yes to a lot more things nowadays. I want to avoid missing out on opportunities where I can. I am going there by National Express coach with Gemma, though she told me she booked tickets for a departure time which I later discovered doesn’t exist. If I do make it to the party by lovely father is picking me up at midnight. It is the only way I can get back. The party has a Hawaiian theme so I’m going to have to try and find a Hawaiian type-shirt in town later.

Next time you hear from me I shall inform you whether I made it to the party, how eventful it was and whether I had a good time. I shall put in some photos too if I have any. See you all soon!

My Blogs of Note

So today was a nice little day, though a quiet one. It was also a long day thanks to Sammy sending me a text at 7AM that wasn’t even meant for me. Thanks Sammy.

Anyway, as I have little to tell today I thought I would share some links to other blogs which I follow and very much enjoy. They are all fairly similar to mine and doing this spreads the word about there blogs which deserve it and also connects people. The last time I did this two of the blogger’s mentioned started following each other so I achieved at least something.

Bunny Trail to Heaven by lilbunny- This blog is generally a personal blog but also features lots of things about rabbits as the author owns them, raises them and rehabs them. The most recent post about going to Ireland amused me because of the complaints about the “low” temperatures which are normal for me here in England!

Elizabeth :) by robertshe- This is a new blog about a girl just finished Year 11. I think the reason I like this blog as much as I do is the friendly style it is written in as well as the passion that is portrayed especially when it comes to Lady Gaga. And I enjoy blogs about people’s lives as people are so interesting!

My Life Says Hello by Ange- This is a fairly similar blog to the one above but of course it is a different person with a different personality. And this one comes all the way from New Zealand which is nice :)

Ramblings of a Lonely Girl by Emily- This is a rare blog in that it is someone in pretty much the same situation as me of going to Uni in the autumn. The main difference is that it’s an American girl rather than an English guy. The posts pretty much are rambles but that makes it all the better as do the amusing cartoons Emily makes.

Observations of a Quiet Girl by Quiet 16- Quiet talks about things happened in her life, such as her upcoming driving test as well as discussing various things such as which is better out of Twilight and Toy Story. She makes a good decision on that one too.

I’ve realised I have actually only shared girl’s blogs with you but that’s mainly because I generally don’t like most teenage boys. Which I know is a bit of a paradox considering I am one. I might try and find some in the future though. So please take a look at those blogs and I hope you enjoy them, I shared them with you because I like them and think they are all brilliant. As usual I shall let them all know I mentioned them too.

On a final note, someone during today will have asked me the 1000th question on my Formspring. And that could be you, so just click the link and ask away!
