I Actually Have a Good Day!

Hello and here I am several days late writing the blog entry for Friday. I have no idea why I’m this far behind, I just am. Let’s go then shall we?

History. After an initial panic about the coursework deadline, things got a lot better though I can’t really say why. But things aren’t as bad as first thought.

Eng Lit. Another mock exam, and a rather homosexual one at that. I’m not using “homosexual” as a replacement for a rude word there, I just meant that both the extracts were loosely about gay people. It was a really horrible question to be honest.

For the first time in Year 13 I actually managed to go to town with Chris today. We had chips which is the best way to spend a Friday lunch I think.

History. A really enjoyable lesson, no mock exam or essay practice in sight here. Just pure subject knowledge and I loved it. Also I was pleased with the amount I actually remember from doing this last year with minimal revision.

On arrival home, I actually had some post!

An actual letter!

Royworld’s album, absolutely free, thanks to HMV’s pureHMV service.

I had a badminton lesson this evening and as well as being exhausted I was in pain due to my ankle being generally rubbish. But there you go, I survived.

The Power Goes Out

I managed to get up at a reasonable time today. Unlike Chris. We had an “important” assembly that we really couldn’t miss. We were reminded to vote in the election and were told we’re leaving school soon. I think I shall post a definition of important on the entrance to the 6th Form.

Geology. We looked through the curriculum and decided what we know and what we don’t. Generally we’re OK- although Torr seems to have major self-confidence issues.

In the middle of doing a PowerPoint for our geology homework, we had a power cut. We assumed it wouldn’t last long but we were later informed that it would last about 6 hours. The whole of Ringwood went down meaning no computers, and no shops open for a while. Modern society cannot cope without electricity.

I was bored, I had inspiration, so I wrote another poem about the whole power-cut thing.I’m rolling them out at the moment, but it’s quite enjoyable. Read it here.

Geology. Due to a lack of power we were unable to show our PowerPoint’s. So we discussed recent coursework and the future of our studies i.e what we’re doing over the next few weeks.

History. We had a practice exam and I think it went reasonably well. This is the one subject I think I will do OK in, but then the coursework will bring the grade down.

Once again my plan for the evening is to do history coursework but I cannot get onto the school website probably because the server is down. So I may have to work on my interpretation. And Mr L has not sent me my English coursework back so I can’t work on that. PANIC!

Poetry and Chickens

W-w-w-Wednesday!
Eng Lit. We looked at some poetry again. As I seem to myself discussing poetry on this blog lately I shall continue here.
She dwelt upon the untrodden ways by William Wordsworth. A poem of unrequited love which is a fairly typical Wordsworth poem. I’m not a huge fan of Wordsworth but I suppose this is OK.
In a Bath Teashop by John Betjeman. A short but lovely poem that is typically British. I like that fact that despite the romance it has a sinister air to it.
My Heart Goes Out by Stevie Smith. A depressing poem. Well written but it says that everyone wants to die. I don’t thanks.
Some fantastic reviewing there!
History. The coursework deadline is only just over a week away which is incredibly frightening. Mrs R is stressed, we are all stressed and time is running out. But I think we shall get there in the end.
It was then off to work experience and a bit of an unusual afternoon. P.E. was first followed by IT. The IT suite at the Junior School is so much nicer now then when we were there. It even has Microsoft now.The class then had to put the chickens away. Junior School has gone eco. Blimey.
I have written another piece of my own poetry today called “What People Write on Twitter”. It has so far been described as:
Hah, so true:D
Read “What People Write on Twitter” here.
And finally here is what I would look like with a moustache:

Exams,Coursework and my first nosebleed of the year…

I am suffering from a major lack of sleep this week partly due to the stresses of my life at the moment and partly due to the amount of hard work that is being asked of me this week.

History. We ended up having the lesson in Mr R’s office which was very weird but we continued to plan essays.

Eng Lit. We had the first section of our mock exam in which we had to compare Shakespeare’s Sonnet 19 to Louis MacNeice’s Meeting Point. I quite like the second as it is very romantic but show’s the negative effect time can have on relationship’s. I suppose it very much reflects my feelings at the moment. From tomorrow there will be a page on this blog which lists all the poems and books I mentions and will give you links to be able to read them.

Mrs W was in Studland looking at sand dunes today so we had no geology lesson. Whilst Mike and Torr wasted their time by looking at stuff on the Cheezburger network, I finished my poem. It is called Trapped and has already been described as

“really good, one of the best poems I've read here…”!

Read Trapped here!

After school myself, Rachel and George were doing an AS resit of a centre-based task for geology. It was a simple experiment involving tipping syrup down a test tube and the exam itself was really easy. Good marks on that one I should think. During it though I had what I think is my first nosebleed of the year. I have had nosebleeds at regular occurrences throughout my life and though I get them less often now it still only takes some heat and a bit of stress to set one off.

This evening I was supposed to be doing either History or English coursework but as I am waiting for both pieces to be marked there wasn’t much I could do. Bring on tomorrow!

A New Week

Today marks the beginning of a new week, one that is full of the stresses of coursework, mock exams and practice essays. Fantastic!

Geology. Our second centre-based task and this one involved putting rocks in water and weighing them at various intervals. Talk about a dull experiment!

Eng Lit. We watched some of the film Atonement. I need to read the book at some point.

On the way home me and Chris came up with the brilliant plan of what to do on Bank Holiday Monday: go to London! It’s going to be an awesome day!

This evening, for once in my life, I got a considerable amount of work done in the form of both history and English coursework. I need to be doing this amount of work every day really to achieve my A-level goals but the signs are good.

I have been struggling to sleep tonight and I ended up ordering a load of free things online. I shall inform you of what sort of thing when they arrive.

Throughout the day I have been writing a very dramatic poem which I may post here at some point so stay tuned!

The London Marathon and Allotment 5#

11AM and I was lying in bed, wondering whether it’s worth bothering to get up. Then I heard the sound of a baby downstairs which was reason enough to emerge downstairs.

The London Marathon was today and I watched it as I do most years. Whilst watching it I thought it would be fun to do my own contest for best costume. Here are the contender’s:

Photo0254  Photo0255 Photo0256

I am giving the “prize” to the camel there. My fave part of the coverage was the smoothest guy ever. He ran the 26 miles, was on live TV being interviewed by Colin Jackson and then turned to his girlfriend and proposed to her. Nice one!

After the shop-bought rhubarb we planted in the allotment seems to have died we managed to get hold of some proper rhubarb from a friend.

Photo0259

That will certainly have a much better chance of growing. The garlic is already beginning to shoot now and we are putting in potatoes at the weekend.

We now have a frog in the pond once again:

Photo0260

In other news, there are plans afoot for a DCM excursion on Bank Holiday Monday and certain parts of my life now feel a little bit better…

Orienteering, technical difficulties and Weeping angels

My concerned looking Mother ensured I was up this morning to get to Young Rangers on time. She is concerned about my well-being over the past few days, much like everyone else. And I’m sorry but I can’t help shying away from this concern.

So, yes, Young Rangers. As it is coming up to Summer the number of practical jobs to do are running out so today was an orienteering day. In the morning though the rest of the young rangers were cleaning bird crap off a fishing platform but I got the job of helping to teach the younger kids how to orienteer. I even led a group of kids round the forest at one point. Another “I should be a teacher” moment.

In the afternoon we were put into small groups and we were supposed to be finding the orienteering posts so that the rangers could check the numbers. However, we only found two, mainly because we spent forty minutes looking for the elusive number 44. It was never found.

After a quick shower it was time to go and switch on my Granddad's internet and give him his first lesson in computing. It’s weird how many things you take for granted in terms of computers. To someone who has spent seventy years without one simple things like using a mouse and typing are incredibly difficult. To make it easier I made everything single click and made everything big so he can see it. I think though that with a bit of time he’ll be fine.

129161887003456071

The Weeping Angels- yes, they’re back. And in spectacular fashion too, with probably thousands of them. And poor Amy Pond has looked into one’s eyes, and that can’t be good. Spectacular episode and I’m looking forward to see how the Doctor gets himself, Amy and River Song out of this mess!

A Lack of Friday Feeling

Apologies for the large number of post’s recently but I got a bit behind and what with one thing or another I’ve got a lot to say.

Things never, ever work out the way you expect them to. Let’s just say things are complicated right now.

History. Mrs R suggested how we should proceed on our coursework in order to basically not fail. I did feel quite privileged to have her and most of the class reading it and advising on how it should be improved.

As you may realise I am hardly emotionally stable right now. It was this that made the decision that I needed home more than English. I was going to go at the start of break but I bumped into Chris who made me stay. Which I’m very pleased he did.

Big thanks to the following people for your support recently: Mike, Chris, Paul, Cassie and most especially Julia.

History. Again? Yes. I am resitting a unit from AS in a few weeks so I thought it would be beneficial to sit in some Year 12 lessons taught by Mrs O. It was quite intimidating to be sat with them, and there were so many of them, but the presence of Paul made things easier. I need as much as I can get of these lessons so I was extremely annoyed when the fire bell rang and wasted twenty minutes of my life. Grah!

So what did I do this evening? I mostly sat downstairs and my Mum informed me she may have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome which is really strange. We also watched Outnumbered from yesterday which was extremely good this week. One of the best things on TV ever!

An extremely sad afternoon

I had a good morning as talked about in my last post but not a good afternoon

I think the easiest way to say this is my copying my Facebook status here:

Right so I am now longer going out with Gemma Keith. It was a surprise for me too. But we shall be staying friends, I'm not going for any nonsense if you get the idea. No making fun of her in videos.

My feelings? What do you expect? All I have to offer is devastation and sadness.

I know it may seem weird that I am blogging about this, but the whole premise of this blog is to talk about everything that happens to me. And it’s not like I gave lots of detail is it?

:’(

A Happy Morning

So, Thursday. Today was a rather confusing day but I am can clearly see two sections. This is the first of those and the happy section, and it begins at school.

Geology. Mrs W returned from being stranded in Lanzorote. She was put up in a 4 star hotel by her travel company for free which is the best way to be stranded I think. We looked at changing sea levels today. There’s not much to say about them. They’re sea levels. And they change.

During our frees me, Mike and Lloyd decided it would be a good idea to buy and play with a Frisbee. We did this and had an epic game at the Bickerly, until we broke the Frisbee. We then bought another Frisbee, threw it around and then managed to break that too. Here’s a picture of Mike with a Frisbee on his head:

Photo0251

Also on our strange adventures we bought a Kinder Egg and here’s what happened to the toys:

Geology. We started looking at microfossils. They’re like normal fossils, just smaller.

History. We planned five essays in one double lesson, which was hard work. I suppose I should think about writing one of these essays at some point.

And that’s when the happy bit ends. You should be able to view the sad bit in a separate entry nearby later Friday evening.

Jane Austen AND Jacqueline Wilson

Hello and apologies for my absence on t’internet over the last few days. Things will gradually be explained over the next few entries but bare with me. There’ll be lots of fun but some tears too. So what happened on Wednesday?

Eng Lit. We finished Pride and Prejudice today. Wow, what a book. When I started it I didn’t like it but now I have got to the end I realise I really enjoyed about it. It is really well structured and written and I have to say that I liked it!

History. I disappeared into the study to do some coursework.

My afternoon of work experience was good today. They had technology and P.E. I also took control of the class for a little bit and read some of The Bed and Breakfast Star by Jacqueline Wilson.

{ADF41BC6-753E-48F4-8999-EC2A673AEE52}Img100

Like most Wilson books it has funny moments but it isn’t really up to much. Sorry Jac.

And to end here is a picture of Sherbet looking very comfy:

Love Poetry and Sunshine

“No again,” my body tells me as it is forced to get up much earlier than it wants to. “I thought yesterday was a one off”. Sadly not. The school routine is back and it’s not going anywhere for a fair while.

History. We spent the lesson doing an essay plan. I hate the fact that we are doing essay’s all the time, it’s not what history should be about.

Eng Lit. We started to do some more love poetry. Shakespeare's Sonnet 29 is certainly not his best.

E.E. Cumming’s I Carry Your Heart With Me is a very simple poem yet I like it a lot as it expresses feelings so strongly and so clearly.

The other poem we studied was Philip Larkin’s High Windows which isn’t really a love poem. It has the f-word in and even now it is weird to here a teacher swear! It’s basically about freedom increasing over time but I think it’s easier to appreciate from an older perspective.

We then had the annual event of the Sixth Form photo. As always the photographers manage to put the stand in the corner of the field where it is both windiest and has the sun pointing directly at us so no-one can see. For some reason half the year had organised to wear green to get as much green in the photo as possible, though I was not aware of this plan until it was too late.

We didn’t have a geology lesson this afternoon because Mrs W is “stranded” in Lanzarote in a four star hotel. Alright for some.

I was able to sit outside in the garden with my laptop for a bit which was lovely. After holding it off all Easter though it was time to begin to re-write my history coursework. I have done a little but I hope I can carry it on in tomorrow's lesson otherwise I will have to endure the fury of my history teacher.

I have been talking to a few pen-pals for a couple of days now which has been nice. Hopefully I shall be getting the odd letter through the post soon!

Once again I shall end with a quick mention this time of 19 year-old Becca who lives in the States. She is on twitter here!

My Last Half Term

The sound of the alarm of my phone going off for a third time was the sign that I really should get up. Gemma and I did our occasional Monday morning routine where we go down to the cafe in town and I have a chocolate milkshake and a coronation chicken sandwich, which is literally the best thing to wake you up in the morning.

Eventually though it was time to make the reluctant return to school for the beginning of my last ever half term. It’s quite daunting after seven years in the same place to suddenly be forced my age to move on.

Geology. First lesson back and time for an exam. It was partly practical though and we had to put some shells in a plastic container along with a 20g weight and shake it loads so that the shells broke. I have never had to use my wrist so much…in school :P

Eng Lit. Cornish told us how we are supposed to write an essay…

I received my poll card today meaning I have all I need to vote. The Lib Dems have now put a candidate forward for out area. His name is Mike Plummer and as well as being local he’s done loads of great things for the community. That, and Nick Clegg’s amazing work during the debate is making me think I may vote Lib Dem but my mind can still be changed.

A couple of things still left to say before I finish, but first a pretty picture I took today:

Photo0247

As promised, here is the video of my Twitter challenge:

Before I go I must say a big hello to Chaz who also has an allotment and like potato smiles! Hi!

And strangely I end my saying hello…

Allotment 4#, Pen Pals and much more!

Things have changed. Time continues to swing it’s almighty pendulum across our lives. Today that was a good thing as picking Gemma up from work this morning was much more pleasurable than on previous occasions as it was light and sunny. It’s the first time in a long while I’ve enjoyed getting up early.

As we were both up early and it was still fairly cool outside Mum and I decided to down to the allotment and plant some stuff!

Photo0238

Those are rhubarb shoots which should grow quite well though the one on the left looked quite unhealthy as soon as it came out the bag.

Photo0239

That cane marks out a row of garlic cloves. Apparently it’s much hard to fail at growing garlic so they should grow.

Our conservatory is currently full of various pots with seeds planted in them. The idea is to get things to shoot and then plant them outside once the chance of frost has gone. (And no it hasn’t gone yet, it was frosty this morning, I was up)

My mum’s friend brought her granddaughter around this afternoon. She is about 11 months (I can’t remember exactly) and is walking and saying a few words already. She is quite a character saying things like “Pennies” when asked why her parents go to work. At one point she burst out crying because Sherbet had gone out the cat-flap but I stopped her crying. I actually think that’s the first time in my life I stopped a baby from crying. And it feels good.

Speaking of Sherbet, she was being a typical cat this afternoon and sitting in a box which was far too small for her:

Photo0245

I spent a quality hour with Gemma after baby-visit which was lovely. It is fairly common around Ringwood to hear loud music blasting from a car but it is normally what is considered trendy. However, a man drove past us blasting out some classical music and you could hear him right down the road. Very strange!

I am aware of the longevity of this entry but I have loads to say. My goal of getting a pen-pal has been in my sights today. I have had some fairly lengthy conversations with a few people including a girl from Israel who is very passionate about defending her country and a Russia girl who finds it hard to express her sexuality (she’s bi). It’s quite interesting to find out about people and I am also expecting some letters through the post in the near future which should be good.

Early this evening I completed my 100 tweets a day challenge of the week which is nice and I made sure I thanked as many people as possible. The video from said challenge should be coming online at some point tomorrow night.

And finally, I was asked a few questions on Formspring today which tested my knowledge. I can do simple maths, but not German…

One, one, two, three, five, eight, thirteen, twenty-one...

34. Fibonacci FTW!

Finish this- ein zwei drei vier funf…

Six.

A rather well-constructed entry if I do say so myself…

Saturday and the sun continues to beam down over beautiful South England whilst supposedly ash falls to the ground from a volcano over in Iceland.

That was perhaps the most poetic start to a blog I have ever written. Sadly, it doesn’t reflect on a day spent enjoying it. I spent much of the day inside sat behind the very computer I am sat behind right now. I’m not really sure what I did during this time other than listen to podcasts and tweet lots. I am trying to get some pen-pals again today after my last one seems to have vanished off the face of the Earth. I have messaged loads of people and I hope something good comes of it.

The misery of the last few days ended with a flood of tears (though not from me) and I have now returned to my normal happy self. I can’t really explain what that means other than saying :P

I have produced what I consider possibly my finest piece of work ever for my YouTube career and here it is:

Frankly fantastic I hope you agree! I haven't mentioned my challenge of the week much this week but it is 100 tweets a day, every day, for a week. I very nearly failed today and have had to rely on tweeting with single letters of the alphabet twice. With one day left though it looks as if I may succeed.

Tomorrow I will be telling you about an early rise, another trip down the allotment and, fingers crossed, all the lovely new pen-pals I’ve found. Night!

Mostly, I sleep

Hello and firstly I suppose I must say welcome to my new look and newly named blog. I thought it needed a snappier name and I need to remove my name from the title for the future.

Today started very late as inexplicitly after a fairly early night  I didn’t end up getting up ‘til 1pm. I know, I’m lazy. Sorry.

I was supposed to be doing some studying today but there is a lot going through my head at the moment so this didn’t really happen. I spent much of the day doing very little and thinking about stuff. I watched Russell Howard’s Good News and Total Wipeout on the trusty iPlayer this evening.

My badminton lesson this evening was the hardest I think I’ve ever had as I started to do a think called “Shadow”. This is a way of practicing footwork where you move between corners as quickly as you can. It is ridiculously hard work!

It seems to be my emotions that have hurt me tonight rather than a knife or some vomit. Where is my life really going? Am I going to get the grades I need and if not what am I going to do with my life? So many questions, yet no answers.

Learning First Aid and a lot of my own vomit

Today I did a First Aid course with my work done by the British Red Cross. I did do a basic First Aid course about four year’s ago but this was a lot better. We began with the basic “DR ABC”- that’s Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing, CPR. So we did some practice on the recovery position and learnt how to do CPR which has been simplified greatly since last time I did it. We looked at how to treat conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes and heart attacks. The last bit we did was looking at how to do bandages on arms, hands and heads as well as how to put a sling on. I haven't done that since I did it with my scarf at cubs!

Tonight was a rather stressful evening for reasons best not gone into here and things got worse when I was really really sick. I have never seen so much of my own vomit in my life. That’s the second day in a row where my body has ejected a large amount of liquid so I am slightly worried what tomorrow holds.

Computers for OAP’s and a lot of my blood

So today was the inevitable day where I had to help my Granddad purchase a computer. A computer for a man in his early seventies who struggles with a mobile phone is a scary prospect. He wanted a full desk computer rather than a laptop and they are quite hard to purchase these days due to the popularity of laptops. Anyway, eventually a HP computer was purchased in a decent deal and I set it up. Strangely Sky aren’t activated his broadband til 23rd April so I will have to return then to set it up.

Also this morning I purchased some CD’s, as seen below:

sfg paramore muse

A fantastic selection!

However, I decided, rather stupidly, to open the security tag with a knife. One slip later and there was blood everywhere. I have never seen as much of my own blood before. It was probably a deep enough cut to need a stitch but it would only need one and it’s in an awkward place. Here’s what my hand looks like now:

Photo0237

Small Steam Engines and a lovely meal

I had a day of work at Moors Valley and for one reason and another I spent most of the day looking at the trains. Four hours looking at this isn’t very exciting:

train

I also rode on the train at one point. The whole idea of small steam engines is so dull to me nowadays but in year’s gone-by I loved them. I suppose it shows how much I’ve changed.

This evening was an evening where both Gemma and I were free so I finally had the opportunity to take her out for her birthday meal. We decided to go to this restaurant in Ringwood:

26387_113751691976340_112259715458871_198899_6348057_n

(If you’re wondering, no I wasn’t sad enough to take this picture but someone else was!)

We both had lovely pizzas and a thoroughly good time. Also the service here was fantastic which resulted in me leaving quite a tip! I rarely leave tips in restaurants cos I little money to spare but this one deserved lots!

The Tweet Challenge (+Allotment 3#)

If you have been following my Twitter, Youtube or indeed this blog over the last few week’s you may have noticed I am attempting to do a challenge a week. This week’s challenge is to do 100 tweets a day, every day, for a week. This means I have to do about 95 more tweets a day than usual. Follow my progress here!

I have actually done some studying today. I opened up my Year 12 history folder and began to re-learn the whole topic. A lot of it flooded back very quickly and the exam is more skills based than knowledge based so all should be OK.

I had 2 hours work this afternoon which seems a bit of a waste of time but I suppose money is money and it was good for me to get out!

We returned for the third day running to the allotment this time fill in the remaining bits of compost. We now have one allotment ready to be planted and the first plants are going in at the weekend.

Sunday, 11 April 2010

Allotment 2# and Crinoids

Back down to the allotment this morning to put down some compost. It took 5 bags to fill two and a half squares so we’ll need some more. We also put bark along the path in the middle. Once the rest of the compost has been added we shall plant some rhubarb.

Photo0235

I then went round Gemma’s for the afternoon along with Sammy. As per usual I was given a lovely roast but I was so hungry it barely touched the sides!

I finally did some work this afternoon, some lovely notes about crinoids:

They’re not really very exciting!

Allotment 1# and Potato Smiles

Today the big allotment project officially began!I have always been quite interested in gardening but having the opportunity to grow our own veg is amazing. We’ve recently been given an allotment that is 5m by 5m, so fairly small. Here it is on arrival today:

DSCF0016

It’s been a dry week. We turned the earth over, finding various plant roots and bits of rubble and then got to work at setting out the squares. This is what the site looked like at the end of today.

DSCF0018

A huge improvement. Tomorrow we are purchasing (as well as using some of our own) compost and then adding it into the squares. Planting should be coming soon. All future post featuring our allotment will say allotment and number in the title.

This afternoon I went to Gemma’s but it was a rather hectic afternoon as her three young cousins were there. It once again reassured me with the fact that I was born to work with children. Also I had the opportunity to be a big kid, check out my dinner:

Photo0234

Chicken nuggets and potato smiles! Win!

I have been asked to post a link to a piece of software called Windows 7 TuneUp Suite. It’s compatible with Windows XP onward and basically tunes-up your computer. It is from a reputable company called Windstry. Enjoy:

Windows 7 TuneUp

Skip the Puppy, Bubbles and reaching 29

Boo! Bet that surprised you!

Today was a fairly leisurely day once it finally began. I sorted through a load of school stuff and realised that I have more work to do than I have time to do it in which is potentially problematic. I haven't used that phrase in age so I’m quite pleased with myself now.

The excitement of my virtual life at the moment is my new puppy Skip on Farmville. It’s only really updates like this that keep me going with the stupid game. Here’s me and my faithful pooch:

New Picture

As it was glorious sunshine today I took full advantage and walked round the lake and down town. Ringwood has so bizarre sights and some very weird people. Also one of the shops in the High Street (I think it’s called “Food for Thought” seems to always have bubbles coming out of it. It must be costing them a fortune.

The day ended, as many Friday’s do, with some badminton and tonight was an epic session as in one game I somehow returned an impossible shot and the final game ended 29-27. In badminton it is first to 21 but you have to win by 2 clear points. If we’d had got to 30 it would be sudden death! Great fun!

Technology Vs. The Older Generation and Guitar Hero 5

This morning my family, including Gemma, went out into Poole with my Granddad. It was a nice morning and it’s always lovely for three generation’s of the family to get together. My granddad wants to get a computer which is going to be a complete nightmare as he can’t even work his mobile properly. However, he did identify a modem effectively thanks to a free guide from Which. He is purchasing said computer next week so I shall inform you of progress.

Also I purchased Guitar Hero 5 as a bargain from HMV, and I enjoyed playing some great songs such as Brianstorm. Guitar Hero is amazing, but should I buy a drum-kit and/or mic to go with it?

This afternoon I had a haircut which was greatly needed as my hair has been growing out of control. It went well.

To end check out this comic and read more like this on Cyanide and Happiness:

Politics in New Forest West- Where’s my vote going?

A return to work today and I spent the day helping kids find Easter Eggs at Beaucroft School. I had a rather enjoyable time and had a nice catch-up with my Aunt.

The rest of the seemed to slowly fade away from me rather unexpectedly. I would like to say I did something amazing but I really didn’t.

In National news, Gordon Brown has announced that the general election will be held on 6th May. This has got me thinking about who to vote for as for the very first time I get to have a say in the country I’m so proud of. Who do I want to be the next Prime Minister- Gordon Brown (dull),David Cameron (posh sod) or Nick Clegg (WHO?)? None of them are great choices but it is fortunate that I won’t really have to worry about that cos of course we just vote on who we want our local MP to be.

Our district is New Forest West. Sadly this area had remained Conservative for the entirety of Labour’s government. Our MP is Desmond Swanye and despite him being a nice chap and him sending me a birthday card I’m not a fan and have few positive things to say about him though he shall most likely remain our MP.Our labour candidate is Janice Hurne who happens to be a member of Bournemouth Council and due to the awfulness of them she shan’t be getting my vote. At the moment there is only one other candidate standing (though this may change) and it is Janet Richards of the Green Party. I was thinking about voting Green before even looking up who the candidate was and from what I’ve read Ms Richards seems a good choice as she is local, young and the few policies announced so far seem excellent.

I have by no means made up my mind so it shall be interesting to see what shall happen and I am quite excited about being able to draw a cross on a bit of paper. I may be the only young person blogging about the election in the constituency which would be awesome. I shall continue to monitor events here right up until the day.

And who said politics was boring, this has been great fun to write.

Daffodils and I become a hero

Hardly unsurprising after the weekend I had, I woke up at half 11. I haven't had a weird dream in a while but I’ll be sure to let you know if I do!

Gemma was at work all day today and I refused to do any work until the Easter Hols properly begin tomorrow so I was a little bored today. I did go out for a walk and noted how late spring is this year. Here’s a nice picture of a daffodil:

I spent the evening around Gemma’s today and it was lovely as always. The other highlight of the day was having this video made! It’s been described as both “impressive” and “awesome” so watch it and see if you share this view!

Also to end here is the result of my first challenge of the week:

The Morning After…

So, after a night of excessive alcohol and very little sleep I woke at half 6 in a tent next to Gemma. Across the tent was Chris. I ventured inside to have my morning wee and found Craig, Sammy, Marcus and Paul in Gemma’s living room, with Paul being under a table.

I stayed for the morning and we watched Dr Who (awesome btw) but eventually it got too much and I went home to relax. Amazingly though I had no hangover, just a lack of sleep.

I thought it would be amusing to use the power of social networking to see how everyone else was feeling:

Sammy: Was bit drunk saturday night! haha! X x

Lisa: I want my bed!

Alysia: is thinkin mayb i drank too much last nite :S yet i still woke up with NO hangover :P

Kim: my liver has been raped by alcohol.

Stef: at the end i fell off a chair, smoked a fag soaked in wine (which was disgusting) on the way home i sat in a puddle because it looked shiny, when i got home me and kim sat in my shed, while i tried to force feed her toast, then i cried to my mum kept saying im sorry and then was sick and passed out

So it seems that pretty much everyone that went was extremely drunk and anyone who stayed over had very little sleep. But I’m pretty sure that everyone had a good time!

Sofa Ninjas

Sorry, but I don’t have much to say about today. As is customary at weekend I slept until after 12 and then felt shit afterwards.

In the afternoon I went to Gemma’s an had a nice cuddle and a lovely time. I am feeling particularly in love tonight and could go on to say all sorts of romantic things but I shall keep them to myself other than saying that I love you Gemma very much.

Some of my time at Gemma’s was sat on the new sofa. I forgot to blog about this t’other day so will do now. It is a corner sofa and has something like 8 seats so everyone can actually have a seat. The guys putting it in were like sofa ninjas and put it together and in place within minutes. They do it for a living so they have so much practice. I would love to see some sort of TV show about them.

Despite it being a bank holiday I still had a badminton lesson. I could have done without it today as I am full of cold and can hardly breathe, so it was rather hard work. I also managed to forget my badminton racquet, which is strange as it’s the most important thing you need to play badminton. My racquet is called Clarent by the way, named after a sword from Arthurian legend.

So tomorrow is Gemma’s BIG party and as I’m staying there you won’t get a blog til well into Sunday. I am doing my first challenge if the week which will involved several bottles there. Also as the floor is slippery there’s the chance some girls may take their shoes of so if I find any high-heels they are going across far side of the car park. I’ll see you soon!

Be safe!

April Fools Day 2010

So I turn up at school and it is time for assembly. It was a Spud Day today to “fund people’s talents”. Why should I pay for a motor-x rider’s petrol or for a year 7 band to buy a mic stand. Besides, the theme (rave) was pretty rubbish. One of the few people dressed up was Ash:

Both of our geology lessons were cancelled on arrival so this morning was pretty much a waste of time.

History with Mr R: We looked at “turning point” questions.

This evening Gemma came round but this was not until we had gone shopping to find me something “smartish” to wear for Gemma’s party on Saturday.

This is the first week of my challenge of the week! Every week I shall be doing some kind of challenge with the video of how I got on posted here every Monday. If you have any ideas for a challenge just comment here. This week’s challenge shall be messy believe me…

So were there any brilliant April Fool’s pranks today? Well the school IT people had decided to redirect Google to another search engine which was quite amusing. Google itself came up with the “Google Animal Translate Feature” which is well funny. Sadly that was about it that I really discovered. But Google FTW.
