The Skill of Press-Ups

Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh: We watched another bit of Pride and Prej.

History with Mrs R: After attending a conference on Monday Mrs R informed us that the coursework needed to be source-based so I basically need to re-write the whole thing over Easter. Not good.

This afternoon at work experience the class were teaching a fitness routine to their parents, and also me. They did a fantastic job and I discovered I’m better at press-ups than I used to be. Perhaps I have finally found my forte.

What awful weather we’ve been having recently. Hmm, time for a vlog about it methinks:

I ♥ Snails

Another weird dream to share with you today. I seem to be having a lot of these weird dreams at the moment. In this dream I was walking in the forest when I got bitten by a snake on the sole of my foot and only had ten minutes to live. Fortunatly, a man rescued me with an antidote.

Geology with Mrs W: We had a coursework exam and I’ve already had the results back and I did rather well!

Geology with Mr M: We looked at gastropods, snails to you and me.

Snails FTW

History with Mr R: We looked at our essays from Tues and I realised I only need to put in a little bit more to actually be quite good.

Quite an evening but in the end I was mostly cuddling Gemma for the duration of it.

It's empty in the valley of your heart

Got up, no sign of Chris, walked to school alone. Actually walking to school with my current fave song “The Cave” by Mumford and Sons in my ears was quite nice.

Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh: We continued to read Pride and Prejudice and I had a few lines as Mr Darcy, who now has become quite a catch. Perfect role for me.

History with Mrs R: Shock. I can’t believe I am typing this but Mrs R said my coursework was good. A little work and this could be quite a decent bit of work.

Work experience this afternoon was quite interesting. Having several nine year old boys asking “where is your clitoris” was not what I expected. What challenges lie ahead!

You may notice that I am in a better mood than yesterday. Good moods happen occasionally. This is despite spending ages finally sorting out Student Finance. For once the government is going to give me some money, though I shall have to pay it back. I was surprised by the amount I will get, much more than I suspected. This is assuming I actually need it…

My blog now has an introduction page for any new or curious readers, check it out here!

Anyway, to have a happy end here is a cute picture of my cat Sherbet:

Why I probably won’t be going to Uni…

Prepare to here the miseries of my current situation!

History with Mr R: We did essay as expected and I think mine went rather well. History is the one subject I am confident in.

Eng Lit: We spent a double lesson reading Pride and Prejudice, and I can’t help but begin to shudder like it. I can now see why it’s a classic novel. What has happened to me?

Geology with Mrs W: We did some revision for the coursework exam we have on Thursday. It was the first time in a long while where I got told to move cos I was chatting too much!

So, time for the nitty-ritty truth. In this blog I try to share my experiences yet entertain you at the same time, but unless you take joy in reading about other people’s sufferings this won’t entertain you. To get into Uni I need two B’s and a C. (Though there may be a chance I can use my AS in biology but that’s a bit risky). If I continue to progress the way I am I shall probably get a B, a C and a D. Hours of work towards both my English coursework and my geology exam got me a D. That isn't enough. I re-at a coursework exam for geology from AS last week and I got 8 out of 20. That’s awful. If I fail at the AS one’s how the hell am I gonna pass the A2 ones?

I can’t really get too worried about this. It might mean the end of all my dreams to be a teacher, but if so there is nothing I can do about it. My hopes now are of the AS counting, the Uni accepting me with lower grades and/or a significant improvement in my subjects. History is the one subject I’m thinking “yeah I might do OK” and even then it’s only a “might”. I have to think about what would happen if I don’t get into Uni. I could re-do the whole year but I can’t see a massive improvement happening that way or I could go and get a job. But what job could I do? Perhaps I could work at a nursery or become a teaching assistant but failing that I’d go and work in a shop. At least if I did that this blog could tell interesting stories of what weird combinations people had in their baskets.

So, that’s it. My longest blog entry in a significantly long time to tell you that my dreams of going to Uni and becoming a teacher are pretty much over. And it breaks my heart to say that. Fingers crossed for a miracle.

I see a big cherry-picker

One of those rubbish wake-up’s this morning. I was out straight away in order to go with Gemma to buy present’s for Gemma’s mum’s birthday tomorrow. It was hard work but at least I got some points on my nectar card. Oh, and the coolest thing I saw this morning was this:

Photo0198

I got to school only to discover a lack of Mr M and therefore a lack of lesson, so I decided I might as well go home again. I did a little work at home and watched a Mitchell and Webb DVD whilst eating lunch.

Eng Lit with Cornish: We were in the computer room and researched some poetry.

It turns out the disaster of a geology exam wasn’t a cock-up by the exam board and it was just that we all did really badly. So that grade D stands. My self-esteem has now gone quite low, as have my chances of getting into Uni.

Power Rangers and Failed Flash-Mob

Hi, this entry is one that turns weird very quickly, so enjoy it!

My day began early as I went to pick Gemma up from work. It was absolutely chucking it down again, and I got drenched. I hope Gemma appreciates that :)

I literally got home and was driven straight to the gym. I had a nice little work-out and whilst on the machines I was watching Power Rangers RPM, for no reason other than that it was on. I quite enjoyed it though.

Then after a shower, I met up with Chris and we headed down to Bournemouth. After a not-too-horrible lunch in McDonald’s, we did some shopping. I bought some jeans and a bargain pair of sunglasses.

The flash-mob, organised through Facebook, was supposed to be happening at two. A flash-mob is where a group of people randomly meet somewhere and do something random. The idea was that when a whistle was blown everyone was supposed to have a pretend laser fight. The whistle went off and nothing happened, and here is a picture of that failure:

I actually enjoy doing exercise!

It didn’t really feel like a Friday today. I hate days like this.

History with Mrs R: Mrs R, being the person she is, basically told me to get fucked and go and read some stuff. The stuff she told me to read actually took the entire double lesson to read and I’m not exaggerating here. I extremely dislike Kerensky’s Catastrophe!

Eng Lit with Cornish: We looked at some baffling and frankly pointless poetry by William Blake. I didn’t know that a clod of clay and a pebble could hold a conversation.

I then went to visit Gemma for a few hours, to see what state of consciousness she was in after her night-shift last night. Nice to have a cuddle though.

I really enjoyed my badminton lesson this evening which involved mostly footwork but with a bit of shot technique thrown in. My recent exercise is paying off, so gym first thing tomorrow!

This evening I stayed in and watched Sport Relief, which saw loads of celebrities doing sporty things to attempt to make us to give them money. Still, the sketch by James Cordon as Smithy from Gavin and Stacey was brilliant!

Oh, and I needed to include some kind of picture and this is a proud scene from my farm on Farmville where I now have all these crops as premium. I have no life.

New Picture (6)

Oh and hello to Ashland, thanks for reading! :P

Starboards and Scallops

Me no like Thursdays.

Geology with Mrs W: The topic came together in one neat little section. How lovely. In terms of exams we still haven't heard but here is the grade notification I got today:

Photo0195

Here’s hoping that changes soon!

During our frees I did the geology homework and this happened:

(Video here if you can’t view it)

Geology with Mr M: We looked at the modes of life of bivalves and I still really want a scallop!

I spent lunch time at Gemma’s which was lovely!

History with Mr R: I fluked a test on Spain and then we looked at some past exam questions. I actually have some confidence in this exam!

I had work this evening and the result from it was a brand new way to play duck, duck, goose. I love playing little kids games and getting paid for it. I swear I am half child internally. Anyways, I shall see y’all soon.

COD and Twits

A short Wednesday today.

Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh: We looked in depth at Mr Darcy. Turns out he’s a nice chap.

History with Mrs R. The first section of my coursework=crap. A nice knock-down of my self-confidence. Thanks.

Due to the children going to London to see The Lion King, I didn’t have work experience this afternoon. Instead I went round Gemma’s with Mike and we played on COD: Modern Warfare 2 a lot. My skill at COD had risen since I first played last year but not having a PS3 at home means I can’t practice very regularly. I would like to have a PS3 but they’re too bloody expensive and I have better things to spend money on.

Today I tweeted my fave tweet in a while: Am going to have twins called Twit-twit and Tweet-tweet so that Twit-twit can tweet Tweet-tweet on Twitter.

And to end here is an extract from The Paramedic’s Diary, a blog by Stuart Gray, which features Hannah as a patient:

A mum and her two teenage daughters set off for an evening of entertainment – JLS style – but had to pause when one of the daughters, a 13 year-old, took a bit of a tumble down steps (actually as the result of her mother tumbling first). I suggested compensation may be in order if her mother confessed to attempting to throw her child down the stairs but for some reason that bait wasn’t taken. It was all in good humour I have to say.
The girl’s ankle was slightly swollen and if she had a sprain it looked no more than a grade I anyway. Her night out was important and they’d travelled a distance, so mum asked me to ‘strap up’ the ankle and I got the girl to take paracetamol for the pain, which wasn’t too bad. That way they could avoid 4 hours of waiting in hospital and having to return home empty-handed and bereft of the JLS experience. I did advise accordingly but I also understood and the young lady was perfectly able to walk on her injured ankle – always a positive sign. I left them in the care of themselves and the kind and helpful London Underground staff.

Back to Reality

So back to the trawl that is normal life.

History with Mr R: We all have to do an essay plan for next lesson and from now on we are doing an essay every Tuesday!

Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh: We were supposed to be doing an exam question but Tidders kind of threw it back in Leigh’s face and we ended up watching Pride and Prejudice.

Geology with Mrs W: Correlation of rocks. Still know news on grades but the sign are hopeful towards a cock-up by OCR!

I spent a short while doing history coursework and then I went to Gemma’s for a bit.

I have been enjoying being properly on Twitter after I had to save my tweets for a special 700th one. I’m tweeting constantly now so follow me here.

Dan’s Diaries: 2004 Part 2

I have kept a diary since 2003, back when I was only ten years old and was in year six. I’m now very near my eighteenth birthday and thought it would be amusing to share some of the things I wrote in my diaries. This bit is from the last 9 months of 2004. Anything in italics is stuff from my diary, and normal is stuff I’ve written today. Last time I had decided I fancied Sam so what happened next?

Tues 1st June: Sorry I haven't written in such a long time. I’ve changed my mind about Sam-it’s too much hassle! It’s half-term this week. We stayed in today. What fun-Not!
Things were simpler then!

Tues 22nd June: Up, at midnight. We’re going to Holland. We got to Holland at 12 o’clock. Our hotel (hotel de Instuif) is really nice its massive and has llama’s outside.
What a trip that was!

Thurs 22nd July: Last day of Y7! I got a certificate for 100% attendance today. Next years timetable is OK but I have P.E. first thing on a…Monday!

Sat 4th Sept: This morning I went to town. I got the Busted Thunderbirds CD. It was £3.99. Talk about a rip. I also went to the library. Petit was being dragged in by his sister. I wonder how cool he think I am now?

Tues 21st Sept: On Sunday two things happened. 1) Ellery texted Natalie and said “Fluff fancies you”. Thank El. 2) I went out on my bike. Natalie was out and she talked to me as if she fancies me.
There is then written a discussion about which may have happened first. It’s obvious, and I was dumb then!

Mon 18th Oct: I’m now going out with LJ again. On November 7th it’s her birthday.
Embarrassment!

Thurs 18th Nov: LJ was dumped two days later. Forget it.
I think I finally saw some sense!

And that was where I finished in 2004. At some point my 2005 diary might make an appearance here but it will not be for some time!

D is for disaster

So, results from the January exams were in today. Cornish found me during tutor to inform me that my English coursework was marked down to a D so that needs to be improved and re-submitted. All that left was my geology exam.

I got a D. Everyone in our geology class got two grades below their target. Mrs W and Mr M are very concerned about this and think that OCR have fucked up somehow and I really hope they have. The entire class may be re-sitting in the summer!

History with Mr R: We had another brutal test which I may just have passed and then discussed the personalities of the monarchs.

I then discovered that it was me I gave Christine a dislocated hip. Last week I went up behind her to ask her about my birthday and she turned suddenly, then grabbed her hip. I’m sorry Christine.

I went round Gemma’s house and sat on the floor for a few hours due to the fact the old sofa has been removed and the new one hasn’t arrived yet. Gemma felt a bit ill though and after I left she got worse, but I hope she’s OK for my birthday tomorrow.

Google have finally launched Street View in our area and here is my house:

New Picture (7)

That is quite terrifying.

Tomorrow is the day where I go out and celebrate my 18th birthday and photos and maybe videos will be here tomorrow night!

A shadow of my former self

Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh: The few of us that turned up read and watched some Pride and Prejudice. Colin Firth as Mr Darcy finally changed his facial expression. I make a much better Mr Darcy.

History with Mrs R: Mrs R complained that none of us had been in her lesson for a while and then I went and wrote the introduction to my coursework.

At Poulner this afternoon it was the big performance where the year 4’s finally did their African partnership performance. I helped set up and enjoyed the show.

This afternoon on my way home from Gemma’s I took some cool shadow pictures:

Awesome aren’t they?

I also went down to the gym this evening, my get fit training is going well!

Limericks!

This evening I was bored so I ended up writing some limericks. Most are about people you might know and please don’t be offended by anything, it’s just mostly what rhymed.

There was an old woman called Nan,

who got run over by a van.

She ended up flat,

her face went splat

and all that was left was her hand

There was an old man called Neil,

who went on Deal or No Deal,

He opened a box,

There was enough for some socks

He was happier than he ever could feel.

There was a quiet boy called Chris,

His friends they did take the piss

He pulled out a fist,

But sadly he missed

And poor Chris they continued to diss.

There was a strange guy called Mike

On a geology trip he fell on a dyke

He ruined his face

In the horrible place,

And on that status his friends clicked "like"

There was a young girl called Sammy,

It was hot and her hands went all clammy

She started to melt

And so did her belt,

In the end she looked like a granny.

There was a smart guy called Torr,

Who one walked into a door.

His eye went black,

(it was quite a smack)

And also he broke his jaw.

There was a young girl called Cass,

who weighed very little mass

She floated away

On a very sad day

And was eaten by a giant bass.

There was a young man called Tidders

At am auction he was one of the bidders

He bought a dalek,

signed the cheque with a bic

But the jokers he couldn't get ridders.

And Cassie cleverly responded with a limerick about me:

There was a boy named Dan

He made Gemma's meal in a Pan

He made wacky videos

whilst eating his Cheerio's

And now he's on a video ban

Bitches of geology questions

History with Mr R: We looked at National Security.

Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh. There was an extreme lack of enthusiasm for the lesson today. Most people didn’t bother to bring their copies of Pride and Prejudice and there was no subtly at our desire to watch the DVD rather than read it.

Geology with Mrs W. We continued with relative dating, doing some fiendishly difficult rock-age guessing. We were given diagrams such as this and had to work-out the order the rocks where laid down in:

Argh!

I had a day off from going down the gym today and instead worked hard on my history coursework. I only need to do the introduction and conclusion and my first draft is finished!

I wake up screaming and do even more exercise

I shall begin today’s entry with something that happened last night. At about half three, I woke up screaming. All I can remember is that it was due to a nightmare but what this nightmare consisted off I have no idea. My dad apparently thought it was the cat making a weird noise.

Anyway, onto today.

Geology with Mr M: We started looking at bivalves which are basically shells. There was another one of those online quizzes which we blitzed through.

Eng Lit with Cornish: A slightly angry Cornish discussed relationships with our parents with us. I was thinking that I’m lucky that I have such lovely parents and that many other people aren’t so lucky. Though I can still pick out a few criticisms of my parents though: my mum worries about me too much and my dad is just so embarrassing.

When I got home it was straight down to history coursework. I really need to get it done by the end of this week but I just write it so flipping slowly it’s annoying.

I later popped down to the gym. Exercise on the fourth day running. I can sort of feel this is doing me good but then again it causes pain.

Two things to end. Firstly I am 18 in a week, yay! Secondly, whilst bored this evening I entered an online competition and somehow ended up winning it. So I typed in Gemma’s address details and the prize will be a special surprise for here. Of course, I shall post pictures of said prize on here when it arrives!

I go cycling, name a swan Jeremy and discuss marrying Pingu

I was abandoned to my fate today as Gemma was off to London to see JLS. If you’re anything like me you’re thinking oh dear. JLS are the boyband version of Marmite- you either love them or you hate them. JLS, that would be a fantastic advertising campaign.

Anyway, I woke up surprisingly early and messed around for a little while by winding up my brother. Disappointingly he now has the strength to open the kitchen door as I always like locking him in there when I can. I then did my English essay and actually said some intelligent things for once.

This afternoon I cycled the relatively far distance to Verwood to see my mate Jack. We had a nice catch-up and chat as well as a good gaming session on Super Smash Bros Brawl. Most enjoyable. On the return journey I took a few photos:

P3070199

Now that’s a nice sunset.

P3070207

This swan has now been christened Jeremy. He is awesome.

After all this exercise today and over the last few days I ache in several places. But I feel good for having done exercise and also slightly stronger and healthier for it.

And finally, I have had a few questions on Formspring tonight so I shall choose  my faves to share with you:

what do you want to be like in the future? for example; how many children would you have, what kind of house would you have, where would you live, what would you do?

Hmm. I will have either two or three children and will hopefully live in a fairly decent sized house. I want to stay in the local area really not too far away and I'm going to be a primary school teacher. Wow that makes me well happy the thought of all that :)

Marry, Shag and Kill : Pingu, Rolf Harris and Rogue (from xmen)?

Marry Pingu, Shag Rogue, Kill Rolf Harris
I had to google who Rogue was.

As an aside, imagine marrying Pingu. It would be awesome. I would get his dad to iron all my clothes cos that’s all he ever seems to do and I wouldn’t have to listen to Pingu’s moaning cos I wouldn’t be able to understand it. Uh-oh, I’m having scary thoughts about marrying someone I shouldn’t. The other day it was Tidders, now it’s Pingu. I should stop thinking about this sort of thing.

The 2nd Bi-Monthly New Shoes Ceremony

This day began early and energetically. In my attempts to get myself fitter for badminton and life in general I went straight down the gym and did half on hour on the cross-trainer and the bike. On top of this half an hour of unprecedented exercise I then walked all the way home. After a shower I felt rather good so I shall defo try and go every day for at least the next couple of weeks.

I then walked to Gemma’s and we went into town to purchase my new air of shoes.  I know at least Chris has been waiting for this so it’s time for the 2nd Bi-monthly New Shoes Ceremony:

And there we go, well worth watching I’m sure. I also purchased The Hurt Locker DVD so will probs watch that tomorrow.

The rest of the afternoon was spent lazing around at Gemma’s and generally being annoying. Gemma’s mother even whacked me round the head with the hoover. Talk about domestic abuse! That’s a joke by the way, it was an accident she was just annoying me with the suction on my arms etc.

I have been asked another question on Formspring:

What do you think it is that makes you who you are?

Wow very deep. I suppose it's my upbringing and my schooling that have the biggest effect on me and Gemma has made me who I am today.

Thank you and goodnight! x

TGIF

Hello and thank goodness it’s Friday!

History: I did some work on my coursework but this was interrupted when I ended up giving a candidate for the new technology teacher post a tour around the school. I know nothing about all the tech machinery so I’m glad the other person new about it!

Eng Lit with Cornish: We did a practice exam question and I kind of failed really cos I worked really slowly and didn’t get all the themes in that I wanted to.

I then went to see Gemma for a bit and I walked her to the place to give blood. I then left as much as I think it’s a good thing I really don’t want them to pump blood out my arm, I hate the thought. I even had the excuse “I’ve got AIDS” lined up in case anyone asked me. Apparently Gemma didn’t give any blood cos she has awkward veins and they couldn’t take any out!

I had a ridiculously tiring badminton lesson this evening. We continued working on footwork and I did so much running. After the session I had several blisters and I could hardly walk.

Tommrrow I am going to go and buy some new shoes so come back and see the 2nd Bi-Monthly New Shoe Ceremony!

Relative Dating is incest

I seem to be having a bit of a cheese obsession today. Last night I had a dream which simply saw me eat a bit of stilton and then first thing the singing vicar came in and sung about JLS giving up cheese for lent. Then later on Gemma randomly picked up a book about cheese! Anyway, enough cheese talk, how was my day?

Geology with Mrs W: We started dating rocks and there are so many bad puns which can be made from this (check the title of this entry)!

Then me and Mike went to the Rec where we did some geology homework and I finally got a film of my fave vending machine:

Geology with Mr M: We did more stuff about echinoids!

History with Mr R: We had a massive test which we didn’t expect to be so hard. Then we did stuff about National Security.

After Gemma had had her third cervical cancer injection she came to mine and we had lols as always!

The Tuesday and Wednesday Combo Blog

Hiya, I’ve had a busy few days so I thought I’d combine my Tuesday and Wednesday entries into one slightly longer entry.

So Tuesday…

History with Mr R: We finished off Tudor marriages.

Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh: We did an exam question for the whole double, apart from the five minute break which lasted for 15 minutes.

Geology with Mrs W: Mrs W was busy doing interviews so amazingly we did some notes ourselves. We then watched another David Attenborough CGI video. By the way, when I say CGI this is the theory that David Attenborough is not a real person and is computer generated!

Wednesday quickly follows…

Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh. The thrills of a teacher talking to us for a whole lesson. What fun.

Then I popped to Gemma’s for a bit before my next lesson. It was there I discovered just how bad my the hole in my shoes has got. My insole actually fell out the whole it was that big! New shoes soon!

History: I “continues with my coursework”. Actually it was more me sat with Torr guessing the surface temperature of the sea and wondering what was in milk.

I then had work experience at Poulner. They were doing healthy eating and were sorting through plastic vegetables which was most fun. Next week I’ve got to paint some of their faces, which could be interesting!

This evening I went down The Elm Tree for the pub quiz as it was Paul’s birthday. My three main highlights are Paul opening some chocolate boobs, Tidby and Jake doing the Cha Cha Slide at the bar and Jake failing miserably at the cards. A good night and I shall certainly be returning again!

A Headless Koopa Troopa

Today started off rather wonderfully with mine and Gemma’s Monday Morning Milkshake moment. Fun times!

Geology with Mr M: We started looking at Echinoids which was fun. Someone’s even made a song about them!

Free: Me, Mike, Cassie and Nikki sat in the rec randomly. Cassie got overexcited about a tornado in her water bottle and then broke the head of Mike’s Koopa Troopa:

Photo0161

Mike’s response was to wave madly:

Photo0160

Mike then tried the coin on head trick on Cassie, but would she fall for it?

Eng Lit with Cornish: We planned yet another essay!

This evening UWE gave me an offer so it looks like I’m defo off to Uni :)
