I win some money and Reflections 2#

After a not very interesting day things got more interesting when our family did the David Lloyd quiz and won! We beat a fair few people including some I know. I got a tenner out of it which was very nice.

Some Xmas song news now. Firstly I put all the videos I took yesterday on my computer ready to edit them together. I have 45 seconds of video so far which isn't too bad. The whole track is only 2min 14secs which I have to fill with video. I shall try and record as many little bits over this week and along with the titles I should have enough footage. I recorded the few bits of myself which have lyrical references in them and they are pretty nice. Tomorrow I shall try and record some more people.

Remember Sunday’s are the day I reflect on my week.

Highlights of the week: A lovely afternoon with Gemma and winning the David Lloyd Quiz

Lowlight of the week: Stressing out majorly due to target grades on my UCAS application

Random situation of the week: Standing with the teachers at Junior School to watch the kids assembly to the parents.

Song of the week: Tik Tok by Ke$ha (I hated this song but have grown to like it)

Fossils FTW!

P1: Geology with Mrs W. We looked through our mock exam papers. Considering I didn’t know it was happening and with the stress of sorting UCAS stuff out a C is a pretty decent effort. I’m hoping with some hard work I can get a good grade in my January exam.
P4: Geology with Mr M. We properly got into fossils today by learning about trilobites. This topic is basically zoology for dead stuff and I love it!

Thanks to an education conference in Birmingham Mr R was otherwise engaged and we did not have history this afternoon, so early home time for moi.

Good news! I have some more pictures to share with you:

HIV/AIDS + Michael=? I would like to know the answer to that.

My UCAS has been sent off but now I have to keep checking for interview offers. Most probably I won’t get anything til January but fingers crossed.

A Good Day

It’s nice to have had a nice calm and good day where nothing went wrong today!

P1: Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh. We did a poem about a Sheppard who was in love (possibly with his sheep)

P2: Free. My new work ethic began and I did some history work.

P3: History with Mrs R. After some confusion over re-rooming we got down to some hardcore history!

Then off to junior school for work experience. The first lesson saw the kids pretend do adverts and it was really funny, some of them made me laugh so much. Next was the year 4 assembly about electricity to the parents which saw me dashing around doing errands and taking control of the class at one point! I was quite impressed that I managed to calm down and then read to thirty kids. The assembly went well and was quite a good laugh too.

This evening I slaved away doing geology and history work, which should be satisfying in the end.

It has been confirmed that my UCAS application will DEFINATLY be sent off tomorrow and that’s lovely.

And lastly here’s a little quiz result from Facebook:

Dan took the Posh Test (; quiz and the result is Middle-Class

You're a want-to-be posh 'totty'. You probably are proud of your social status, and have enough money for commodities and ravish gifts. You live in a nice house in a desirable location. You splash out on extravagant holidays, and generally enjoy your life!

I get stressed about my future

I don’t particularly like it when I get behind and have to shove to days into one entry like I have today. I am going to tell you the story of my two days.

First thing Mon morning I spoke to Mrs Wa who is in charge of all the UCAS stuff. She was gonna let me read my references but then realised the grades my teachers had put on it. I spoke to Mrs W and Mr M and they were perfectly happy to put my grade up to C but history was problematic. Mrs R told me it was extremely unlikely I would get a B which basically meant that most of the Uni’s I want to go to would reject me straight away.

So today I went back to see Mrs R with my new plan to get a B: by re-sitting my Britain exam in June. Mrs R agreed with this on the condition Mrs O has my exam paper. Fortunatly she does meaning I can resit it and get that ever so important B.

This whole thing was ever so stressful and I spent the whole two days trying to sort it out. It’s my whole life that could be affected by this. So all to do now is sort it out with Mrs Wa and get the application sent off.

It’s looking pretty good though now and hopefully my teaching dream will come true.

Gemma coming round this evening cheered me up which makes me smile :)

Also check my blog/facebook notes to see another stupid spam e-mail I got sent.

Reflections on my week

Due to rarely having anything interesting to put on this blog on a Sunday it will now become the day I reflect on how my week has been.

Today I was sat inside doing not a lot, other than a visit to Gemma’s house which I wish had been longer. :(

So, the reflections begin:

Highlights of the week: The lovely response to the messages I sent to some people, visiting the Natural History Museum and spending lots of time with Gemma.

Lowlight of the week: Getting back my English coursework to find it was a piece of crap.

Random situation of the week: Stood in Wimborne Market with my granddad wanting to buy a Caithness paper weight and my dad bartering for it.

Song of the week: Meet me halfway by Black Eyed Peas

Wimborne Market and Children in Need

As it was an INSET day, my father, grandfather and myself headed down to the market in Wimborne. It was for my grandfather to go and find some of the paper weights he collects, but having my dad there meant some bartering could take place. I got some cheese and so for lunch had some Shropshire Blue, Swiss Ementhal and Roquefort.

The next few hours were wasted doing not a lot. I would like to share this video made by Radio 1 for their Bullyproof campaign:

Then I popped to Gemma’s and watched Children in Need. The soaps doing stuff was good, and I especially enjoyed the Casualty bit. But of course highlight of the night had to be the Dr Who scene, which will be the start of the Christmas special. The appearance of the Ood makes sense now, they need the Dr’s help. And my fave little detail was that the Dr said he got married to Queen Bess (Queen Elizabeth). He said her nickname was no longer accurate and that is amusing as her nickname is the virgin queen. Naughty Doctor…

I study Shakespeare and become a judge

P1: Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh. We did a couple of Shakespeare sonnets. Here my version of one of his more famous poems:

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Nah

P2: During my free I finished my History coursework and then sent off my personal statement. That’s right, it has been sent off and now all I can do is wait for the offers to flood in!

P3: History with Mrs R. We had a shock as we actually watched a video about the Russian Revolution. Though the video was so old it was history in itself. Also during this lesson Cornish popped in and gave me my marked English coursework. Hours of my life have been wasted as it is 2000 words of complete crap and needs virtually rewriting :(

Work experience at junior school was particularly good today. I got a bit more into being the “funny” teacher which I most enjoyed. Also I was the judge on who should read out bit’s for the class assembly which I will get to see next week. I’m looking forward to see what my class manage to pull together.

I then went round to Gemma’s house and had a lovely evening as usual. Spending any time with Gemma is so amazing and here’s a little video where Gemma and her sister Hannah sing some Christmas songs, with an amusing ending

Christmas Songs by Gemma and Hannah

I haven't blogged about my toe for a while. It’s been busy healing and I can now see the little square of nail that is left. I have to say the surgeon made a very straight cut!

Love Poetry, Earnest and My name is Dan Part 2

P2: History with Mr R. Except Mr R was ill so we just had to do some work. Also we had some chats about relationships and having kids. It was a little odd though being a boy with three girls talking about stuff though.

P3/4: Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh. I really enjoyed this lesson for once! We looked at a decent poem called Remembrance by Thomas Wyatt. Most enjoyable.

Due to Mrs W being in the Earth galleries with the year 8s, I had the afternoon off which I spent with Gemma! We generally had a laugh tonight and we watched the modern film of The Importance of Being Earnest which was pretty good and very funny.

Most people that received a nice apology/thank you message have replied which is nice. Torr and Cassie seemed equally pleased by their messages. Yet to have a reply from Tidders or Lloyd but hopefully get some soon. Julia was amused by the fact by blog yesterday went from my deep emotions to Farmville so suddenly.

Speaking of Farmville I am proud to be able to say I have reached “Level 10-Splendid Farmer”. My efforts have finally paid off.

My name is Dan…

Before I start, I always find it amusing how this blog appearing on Facebook surprises me. I post it on Blogger and it then takes a random amount of time to appear on Facebook. I normally notice it when I’m refreshing the news feed.

P3/4: Geology with Mr M. It was a surprise in the fact that Mr M was actually there! We did about waste disposal and the problems it causes. When asked what a large MESH fence was for outside a landfill site Mike said “to stop the gas getting out”! Fail!

P5: Oddly me and Mike spent most of it playing Chess on my laptop. I am crap at chess so he won twice.

P6: Eng Lit with Cornish. Once again my laptop was invaluable to do coursework on.

I had an odd evening this evening. 25 minutes sat outside Gemma’s work gave me a lot of time to think about stuff. If you have ever seen TV show My name is Earl, you’ll no Earl goes round doing good things to get back good karma. In similar style (hence this blog’s title) I sent messages to a load of people saying sorry for the bad things I’ve done and saying thank you to what they’ve done for me. I have so far had good responses from Julia, Mike, Chris and Sammy and an equally good one from Tamsin. Yes I messaged her to, after all I do have a lot to apologise for. But it went well somehow and I made some people quite happy, and that has made me happy too.

And my Farmville farm is looking pretty awesome right now:

Did I actually do anything today?

Not really.

I got up at half 11 and did very little except for a quick visit to Gemma’s house. Gemma’s mum get better soon xx

I watched Dr Who at 7 and it didn’t disappoint. The end is certainly nigh- what chaos has the Doctor caused? I knew Donna and her granddad and the Master were back at Christmas but the tiny sneak peak gave so many questions. The ood? What is that especially weird ood? What the flipping hell has happened to the Master and how did he come back? Wish it was Christmas now! Actually I want it to be Christmas for more than just Dr Who but yeah. Sorry. Geekishly excited now. I will take a break and tell you how I found Top Gear.

Top Gear was as good as usual, I enjoyed the trip to Romania muchly! The Stig has Chaz and Dave on the radio this series!

Shopping and Shit

Today me and Gemma had a bit of a shopping day in Bournemouth. It was during the biggest storm of the year with ridiculous wind and heavy rain. Gemma bought a replacement phone, an LG Viewty and I bought a load of CDs: Black Eyed Peas, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Calvin Harris and the New Moon soundtrack. A nice, broad selection!

I had a lovely day thanks to my lovely girlfriend! :)

I have just made an amusing Facebook group called “I was amused when Chris Kendrick joined another group”. The title says it all.

And exciting news: it’s officially Christmas! The Coca Cola Ad was on during a break in The X Factor. Woo!

MultiRealm and my dull day

P1:Geology with Mrs W. We did some revision. Exciting news that we should have our hoodies tomorrow and if I receive mine as promised I shall of course post a picture here!

P2/3: During my frees I disappeared to a secret location. The announcement that I promised to has unfortunately been postponed indefinitely. It may reappear in a few years though so you’ll just have to wait.

P4: With Mr M in Belgium and no work set we had nothing to do. Except play Torr’s game, MultiRealm that is. I took a few screenshots especially for this blog so here we go:

New Picture (1)

Here I managed to stand on the edge of map wall for ages.

New Picture (2)

Yes I know. I died. Please don’t rub it in.

New Picture (3)

This is probably the dodgiest MultiRealm screenshot so far…

P5/6: History with Mr R. We did some analysis on Tudor relations with Scotland. Conclusion: Mary Queen of Scots will appear in our exam. Mr R let us go early so me, Amy and Christine had a nice chat about what we’ll be up to next year. Amy is off with some friends on a gap year in Canada whilst Christine also taking a gap year, going to Tenerife with her parents!

I have successfully managed to write a long blog about a mostly dull day. Well done me!

Work Exp and Sammy=weird

P1: Eng Lit. We moved on to doing stuff for our exam, by starting on love poetry.
P3: History. We started learning about Russia’s provisional government.
As per usual I then had work experience. Today I took the register and began the lesson which was quite nerve racking but one day that’ll be my daily routine. :)
This evening wasn’t the most exciting ever but I did have a lovely chat with young Sammy. I managed to get her on Farmville (yes my obsession continues) and here is a screenshot I took off webcam:

Coastal Kung-Fu

P2: History with Mr R. We got our essays back (mine was awful) and we watched more of the Elizabeth I DVD.
P3/4: Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh. We did an essay on why Henchard is a tragic character. We decided we would like that on a T-shirt.
P5/6: Geology with Mrs W. We were supposed to be learning about coastal defences put to be honest it all went to pot. We did some coastal kung-fu which was the most bizarre thing ever and here’s what you have to do!

The madness continued by us all hiding in the cupboard, with Mike trapped in the cupboard here:

And we ended the lesson watched some videos from Horrible Histories randomly cos Mrs W’s kids like them! :)

They all love me!

P1/2: History with Mrs R. Our last analysis of our sources for our coursework. Good news that we’ll be watching videos soon.

P3/4:Eng Lit with Cornish. We started on the beast!

OK, this is the point where I should find something interesting to share with you and fortunatly I do have some stuff to share with you! Firstly I forget to mention this the other day but I put up a status on Facebook and Gemma commented “I love you”. Thanks to Marcus here’s the ridiculous comment stream I then received:

Marcus: i love u 2 dan xxx

Tidders: I love you 3, Dan.

Rob: make me 4 x

Josh: and me 5 :)

My Aunt: Guess I had better make that 6 cos you are a great nephew :) xx

Gemma’s mum: better make me 7 only sometimes lol xxx

Also I am addicted to Farmville on Facebook now, here’s a nice pic:

Farmville

Fireworks and Fun

Assembly: Mr R did an awesome assembly about remembrance of the dead from war.

P1: Geology with Mrs W. Tunnelling.

P2/3: Free. I did some work and then did some doodles

P4: Geology with Mr M. Coal mining in Britain. We also discussed weather it would be possible to build a water slide in an old mine shaft…

P5/6: History with Mr R. Elizabeth I’s relations with Scotland.

After doing some work this evening I went round to Gemma’s where we watched the nearby fireworks. It is Bonfire Night after all! Also we had some sparklers which was most amusing:

Rainbows, baguettes and other stuff

The day began with a walk to school under a lovely little rainbow:

P1: Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh. More beast preparation.

P3: History with Mrs R. Mrs R took us on a whirlwind tour of our coursework.

Here’s Mike having a baguette:

Then it was off to work experience at junior school which saw me helping out with more literacy and P.E. The phrase “Mr Hough, can you come and look at my balance please?” was overused though. I can’t wait to be a teacher!

Chicken Tikka before the dentist is a bad idea

I actually went into school really early today so as to have my tutor run through my personal statement. In P1 I then completed draft two of that pesky personal statement and hopefully they’re won’t be much to sort out from that point.

P2: History with Mr R. Tudor relations with Scotland.

P3/4: Eng Lit with Tenacious Leigh. We continued doing some beast preparation focussing on Casterbridge.

P5/6: Geology with Mrs W. Landslides!

Forgetting I had a dentist appointment this evening I decided to have a nice chicken tikka sandwich for lunch. Then I realised my obvious mistake that I was gonna kill my dentist with tikka breath. It took a lot of toothpaste to get my breath nice. For anyone wondering, it was just a normal check-up and I was given the usual dentist spiel about brushing more etc etc.

My evening was spent mostly with Gemma and as it was my mum’s birthday we went out for a nice family meal. How lovely!

Back from Half Term

Not exactly the busiest day at 6th Form today.

P3/4: Geology with Mr M. Except Mr M was ill so we had some group work to do.

P6: Eng Lit. We continued to prepare for our coursework, from here on known as “the beast”.

I listen to Radio 1 a lot and Scott Mills has brought back the feature Beckycam which shows the radio 1 office and is oddly distracting. Here’s a link so you can be distracted too!

Also I like showing you pictures on this blog so here are two from today:

Here’s George’s name on the board, with added devil horns.

Yes, that’s Mike. And yes it’s horrible!
