Halloween 2009

I spent most of the day doing work to prepare for going back to 6th form and it’s what I’ll be doing most of the day tomorrow so they’ll be no entry here tomorrow.

This evening we had hardly any kids round begging for sweets just 5 groups and only 13 kids. Our estate doesn’t do Halloween. That cannot be said for  where Gemma lives though! I cycled along her road to see several houses, including hers, lit up and with cobwebs and spooky stuff all round them. To be honest I don’t see the attraction in it. I am like Scrooge but just with Halloween and not Christmas. The only reason Halloween is even talked about here is cos I did nothing else today. I’ll see you on Monday when I’ll let you know how 6th Form is going.

I pop bubble wrap at 5.92 bubbles per second!
I popped 196 bubbles in 33.1 seconds
at www.Virtual-Bubblewrap.com!
Can you beat my score?

9

After a working sesh this morning myself and Gemma travelled into Bournemouth to the cinema. We ended up seeing this film, 9:

Now I don't really want to describe the story in massive deatail so basically it's about some man-made creatures who survived the end of the world. Yes it sounds weird but it's absoulutely awesome and the best film I've seen in a while :)

Chichester Uni Open Day

First thing this morning it was off to the Dr’s for them to change my ridiculously large dressing to something more sensible. All seems to have gone well in the operation front!

So off to Bognor Regis today to visit Chichester Uni’s campus where the primary teaching takes place. I found it a lovely place and it is certainly up near the top with Winchester but my personal opinion makes me prefer Winchester slightly at this stage. The open day didn’t exactly take very long so it was back on the open road very quickly.

Next I spent some time at Gemma’s with Sammy and Marcus there for a bit (who I thrashed on Wii) and then I was with Gemma for a nice few hours which included a Singstar sesh.

Then my final activity of the day was a quiz over at the Old Thatch pub in Ferndown. I wasn’t a massive help but we came 2nd and had a bit of a laugh so was worth going.

Chop Chop: I undergo minor surgery

CHAOS was at Moors Valley today and it was a hard yet fairly satisfying day. I had some nice chats with the crew and found out one of them is studying Geology. As us geologists always stick together we had a nice little chat about magma differentiation. How awesome!

So today was the time for the nice Dr to sort out my nasty toe. It was a rather odd experience. The only pain I got was from the injection for the anaesthetic. Amusingly the student who was observing the operation felt the need to leave the room which amused me. The anaesthetic made me slightly euphoric which was rather amusing. Now I am ok just can’t move a lot. Here’s a pic of my cartoon style bandage:

Fun times

Another CHAOS sesh this morning this time at the rather lovely King George V Playfields. A lovely little playground in the middle of nowhere. I also made a new friend which was nice :p

The dullest part of my day was my hour or so reading The Mayor of Casterbridge, it’s so boring.

Later on Gemma came round and we went for a nice lil walk watched a DVD and generally had a good time. I like half term.

Brighton Uni Open Day

Well the campus we visited was Falmer Campus which is actually someway from Brighton. It took flipping ages to get there due to part of the A27 being closed. The course is very similar to that of Winchester but the campus doesn’t have as much character. Ending up going to Brighton Uni would not be a disaster but it’s distance away and the feeling of the campus make it lower than first choice.
I have one Uni left to visit (Chichester) but I have to apply to another two uni’s, and a contingency plan in case I don’t get the grades is necessary. At the moment my preferences look like this:
1) Winchester Uni (4 years to have QTS (qualified teacher status)
2) Brighton Uni (4 years then QTS)
3) Chichester Uni (Bognor Regis Campus- unsure of exact course details yet)
4) Bath Spa Uni (3 year education degree followed by one year PGCE, lower entry requirements)
5) Portsmouth Uni (3 year education with history degree, 1 year PGCE- but it’s Portsmouth).
So much to think about!

In other news today I saw a UFO. I could have sworn it was a flying saucer though it’s pretty unlikely. I spent half the walk home wondering whether I was gonna be abducted by aliens. I wasn’t.

And it's exciting to able to tell you this is the 300th blog entry on this blog/Facebook.I have been a busy bunny¬

Getting Political

Right I don’t very often get to deep political stuff but along with millions of others I have just watched leader of the BNP Nick Griffin on BBC’s Question Time. One man I am disgusted with. He is quite clearly a racist and should never be allowed to have any political power. He was extremely evasive and barely answered any questions directly always taking them off onto another tact. At the end the question “Is this an early Christmas present for the BNP?” was brought up and I have to say no. A massive protest outside television centre and Twitter and Facebook covered in negative comments surely show that our country is not racist and does not want these people in charge. I am loving some of the comments coming through on Facebook and Twitter though I don’t want to start an online debate! Anyway, so what else was I up to today?

P1: Geology with Mrs W. Case study of a dam failing

P4: Geology with Mr M. Coal mining

P5/6: History. We began looking at England’s relations with Scotland in the Tudor period.

It’s been quite a wet and gloomy day today. Here’s hoping it’s better tomorrow.

London!!

I took Gemma on a surprise day out to London today and we had an awesome day. It was an early start but worth it. We went to London by National Express coach and then travelled around by tube which was difficult when some of the lines are closed for maintenance. Our first visit was to the London Aquarium which had some cool stuff in including some enormous sharks.

Next was Covent Garden with it’s awesome markets. We did a bit of shopping and saw some cool entertainers like a guy on a traditional Chinese instrument and the comedy magician.

Then we had some quick stops at two famous London landmarks: St. Paul’s Cathedral and Trafalgar Square.

Overall we had a fab time it was the best day in ages, though Gemma found it a bit tiring!

The Adventures of Barry Scott

Me and Tidders came up with this the other day so here is the very first script for the movie featuring Cillit Bang’s very own Barry Scott!

Boy walks in covered in mud

Mother(frowning): You wanker! How the fuck am I gonna clean this shit up?

Barry Scott(loudly): Fear not damsel in distress!I’m Barry Scott and I know a way of cleaning this mess! This is new Cillit Bang extreme and can destroy any substance know to man!

LOUD BANG

Barry Scott (clothes hanging off and looking frazzled): …and the dirt is gone.

Gavin: Hi, I’m Gavin from autoglass. You see that chip?

Barry Scott: I can fix that! Bang and the chip is gone!

Gavin: Don’t worry autoglass can come and insert our special resin and if your fully covered it’s usually free!

Barry Scott: Wait a minute! Where did you come from? (Looks at bottle).Oh no! New Cillit Bang Extreme is so strong it’s sent me to the land of tedious advert presenters!

Michael Winner: Don’t worry, it’s only a commercial!

Barry Scott: Hi I’m Barry Scott and I’m wondering how I’m gonna get out of this mess.

Alexsandr Orlov (meerkat): Comparethemeerkat.com, comparethemarket.com Simples!

Richard Hammond(pushing trolley): Oh no, annoying talking meerkat!

Barry Scott: Don’t worry, I’m Barry Scott and new Cillit Bang Extreme deals with all animated animals no problem. Bang and the meerkat is gone!

END (or is it?)

Winchester Uni Open Day

Today I went to my first Uni open day, at Winchester and was very impressed.

Organisation was incredible you couldn’t go far without someone pointing you the right way. The buildings are a nice mixture of old and modern and work really well together. Their are excellent facilities in every area of the uni and the houses look really nice too. The course I want to study is BA Primary Education so I can become a primary school teacher and it’s such a fabulous course. The only problem is the oversubscription with 1000 applicants for 200 places. I am dedicated to getting in there and will do everything within my power to get that place!

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

P3/4: Geology with Mr M. More presentations and oil exploration

P6: Eng Lit with Cornish. We finished reading Othello which saw lots of deaths including mine as Roderigo. My fave line today: “Down scrumpet!”

This afternoon myself and my lovely Gemma went to Bournemouth to see a film at the cinema, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. First a poster:

 cloudy-meatballs-poster

This film sees an inventor find a way to turn water into food. It’s a little weird but a decent film with some amusing moments, especially the monkey. “STEVE”! It’s not a film to see if you haven't eaten though cos it’l make you rather hungry.

Spending this evening with Gemma was awesome and I am so so happy!

The Saturday

Another Saturday, another lovely day. Highlights:

1) Spending the day with Gemma. As always a pleasure.

2) Games. Peggle, Peggle Nights, Plants Vs. Zombies. Hours of entertainment

3) Hole in the Wall. A big fat woman was on tonight making it so funny.

4) Talking with Torr. How lovely!

And there was one lowlight though which happened when I was climbing the stairs and slipped, catching my right pinky. It is certainly hurt and may even be dislocated which could lead to a few hours in A and E one day. It still is rather painful as I type.
